Re: What Do You Grow in Your Garden
My green thumb is really itching, darn cabin feaver!
We usually plant tomato's, radishes, corn, zucchini, & peas. This year I'm going to get some pumpkin seeds for my dd. I think she'd get a kick out of them.

Re: What Do You Grow in Your Garden
I'm DYING to get out there! This year we're making the garden 4x the size to grow for market. It's going to be a lot of work but well worth it. I'm planning on growing tomatoes, sweet corn, cukes, summer squash, acorn squash, butternut squash, zuccini, Cayanne peppers, habernaro peppers, green peppers, blue lake runner beans, cow peas, okra, bib lettuce, beets, radishes, basil, thyme, rosemary, chervil, peas, eggplant, catnip, and, and, and!
Yep, just itching to get out there!

We plant tomatoes, green onions and lettuce. We're planning on making our garden bigger this year so we can plant a lot more stuff.

Re: What Do You Grow in Your Garden
One of the things we miss most being renters is the ability to have a garden. Two years ago we did some container gardening but it didn't work very well. I think I will try again this year as a science lesson for DS2. Of course we may be moving (hopefully) and then we have to decide if it is worth transporting them!

Re: What Do You Grow in Your Garden
container or indoor growing isnt as hard as it sounds. fish tanks and those round buckets that cost 5 dollars at dollar general, like a big tub, with rope handles. good dirt, love, sunlight and water. in the end, you will save so much money, and knowing where it come from is refreshing as well.

Re: What Do You Grow in Your Garden
caster seed will stop that hun. i read that in a book about natures way of pest removal. it said to put it all the way across your problem area and then thin it out to where youd send them away too. like a triangle leaving away from your home.

I grow tomotaotes, peppers and choke cherries. I have lots of squirrels and bunnies. I have food for them in the opposite corner of my yard. That way the fill up on it and not my veges.

I belive the reason behind that is.... most animals feed on your garden ect because they are thirsty & they get their fluids from what they eat. So if you leave them some water they'll leave your plants alone.
I've had better luck with putting the bottles around my plants to spare them from being comped on.
I'm so jealous, some of you are planting already!!!! I still have snow on the ground & this past weekend below zero temps. I wish our growing season was longer.

Re: What Do You Grow in Your Garden
i live in the north also and every year i plant a garden . i like to grow green beans, tomatoes. onion, any kind of peppers, watermellon, cabbage hard to grow though, peas
cucumbers, cantalope, pumpkins, and i like to grow flowers of all sorts because we have some very pretty birds here, humming birds, gold finch, cardniels all love zinnas grow some and watch the birds and leave your used orange rinds for the oriols and the oranges will bring in the bees for the garden

Re: What Do You Grow in Your Garden
alot of the plants i grow can be reseeded mid summer but most just keep growing, green beans, onions can be reseeded, but tomatoes, peppers, mellons, cabbage, peas, cucumbers, and most flowers keep producing new veggie and flowers as long as the weather permits and you take care of the garden

Re: What Do You Grow in Your Garden
I just read last night that rabbits, deer and turtles dont like garlic or the smell. The writed stated they planted garlic around their garden, and it kept the animals out. Of course she had surplus garlic, which she sold.
