The Australian Federal Police (AFP) racked up more than $50,000 in late fees last year for failing to pay credit card debts on time.

The AFP incurred late fees of $50,235 on its credit cards in the 2003/04 financial year, an audit by the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) found.
