Default $5000 Left In Goodwill Pajamas

Someone left more than $5,000 in cash in an envelope tucked into a pair of pajamas donated to Goodwill.

The note, signed with only a first name, said the donor had been saving it awhile and hoped the person who found the cash would spend it wisely, said Bill Wylie, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Upper South Carolina.

Goodwill has placed the money in a safe, waiting to see if someone claims it. If no one does, it will become a donation, Wylie said...

I SHOP AT THIS GOODWILL!!!!! and no, i've never looked at their pajamas...

this place is about 2 miles from my house (not the warehouse goodwill, thought). you know what they gave this woman who works for goodwill for turning in 5 grand? gift certificates to GOODWILL!!!

some folks around here are peeved about that and it seems she's getting a lot of donations to help make up for the fact that she's down 5k for being honest.

I think Goodwill needs to be honest, and give it to the person who found it. That's what the note said after all! Maybe the person who left it will claim it and give it to her.

I was thinking along the same lines, nanamom. I don't understand why she turned it in since she was the one who found it after all.

i'm thinking the note might have been a bit of artistic license on the part of the online article, because there has been no mention of a note in any of our local coverage. it's simply been covered as 5k in an envelope with no identifying information. in that light, turning it in makes sense.

not only local coverage, that would have hit all the national news by now. The news media thrives on this sort of stuff. LOL

but if this is really true, I hope the person who actually found the money gets it especially if they really need it.

Yes, goodwill should put the money back in the pocket and put the pajamas on the shelf. That's obviosly what the donor had in mind.
