Ten years ago when Rosalind Strover turned 90 year old, her daughter-in-law Jennifer wagered 100 British pounds at 100-1 that she would reach 100 with bookmaker William Hill. A year later, Jennifer added another 50 British pound to the bet at odds of 50-1.

By reaching her 100th birthday today, Ms. Strover is entitled to 12,650 British pounds (approximately $23,300) for the bet and a traditional congratulatory telegram from Queen Elizabeth for reaching the century mark.
