Default Space bags anyone?

I've been storing my daughter's vast collection of hand-me-downs for a (potential) younger sister. I think the collection is trying to take over the basement though! Have any of you ever tried Space bags? Do they work? Are they any off-brands that are cheaper? Would I be better off getting them in a store or off of TV? (I think I know the answer to that, but . . .)

they rip if you are not SUPER careful, and then do not hold the vacuum.

Personally if it is just a potential, I would keep only the sentimental stuff, less you really do not expect to recieve any gifts and handme downs later? got any family or friends who could use it now and return the favor later?

Wow. Glad I asked! I didn't even imagine that they would easily rip. I guess I stick with the tubs. (BTW, I loan out what I can, but lots of them are the wrong season for right now.)

I have discovered even with the limited amounts I saved per kid, they are out of season for my own as well, whihc is why I limit the 'stuff'

space bags also arent good for anything that has a filling, stuffing such as batting. like sleeping bags and quilts, its terrible on the batting and stuff. you should actually ive read, keep a sleeping bag in a tub but unkempt. just throw it in, rolling it and all is bad for batting, as much as washing is. it distorts and repositions the batting, like washing a pillow and it comes out crooked and never goes back to its original state. same thing. just thought id mention that. huggellzz, tish.
