Default Tip to save time and money grocery shopping

We now do most of our shopping at the Wal-Mart Super Stores. Here's why:

Wal-Mart will price match. That means that we can take all the flyers from the Sunday paper to the store and Walmart will match the price.

If I see that A&P has a sale on Bannanas for 20 cents a pound, Wal-Mart will sell them to me for the same price.

This keeps me from having to drive around to 4 or 5 stores to get all the best deals. And with the price gas who wants to drive around?

Sad to say that I have no Wal-Mart close enough to make this a practical endeavour!

Our local Walmart don't sell grocery items. Just a couple of canned items and coffee.

I look at the best deals at my local paper for the week. I mostly shop at Stop and Shop but yesterday I went to Shaws instead because of better sales.

How do you get them to match the price of your items? Do you go talk to a manger or can a cashier automatically reduce the price for you?

Can you use both coupons AND price matching on the same item?

This is a great tip, but unfortunately the Walmarts in my area have a pretty skimpy selection of food. Not sure if I could take advantage of this.

Each store has a different policy so ask the manager. My store lets me match price and use coupons, too.

I have also found that walmart is cheaper on the basics. like hamburger helper, it is 1.50 a box. Kroger is 2.50 or more. unless on a sale. Check with your cashier to see if your walmart price matches. ours does. I have 2 supers within 30 miles of me and will be getting a third one very soon. the last one is about 10 miles from me.

Our local walmart will not match aldi's prices. It calls aldi's a "gimmic" store. So, I rarely buy a grocery item at walmart, unless i am already there and only need a little item.

I don't shop often at aldi's, with coupons I can usually get the on brand stuff for just as cheap and I do think that there is a difference. The quality is different. but I do love getting my fresh veggies there. they are better than krogers. I don't try to price match aldi's cuz their stuff is usually off brand.

I used to work for Walmart and the cashier can price match for you and take coupons on the items that were matched. It wasn't a big deal to us because we were keeping customers by matching prices.

I try to shop when the kids are in school. It makes it easier on me and I can concentrate on what the good deals of the week are instead of worrying what my kids are getting into.
