This weekend has been rather productive which is rare to me. I had a yard sale- my first one ever. The stuff that did'nt sale I prepared for the Salvation Army. I recorded everything so I get a tax deduction. I am really happy with my self for gaining more money than spending!

I am a homebody. I just enjoy being at home and puttering around. On sat morning, we usually do "family cleaning". The whole family has to vacuum, mop, dust, etc. This takes about 2 hours. After that I will allow my kids to go over to a friends' house or they can invite a friend or two over. While the kids are here, I generally play in the yard with them or do some yard work, putter in the garage, etc. Sometimes we go to the local park, the dam/creek or just go for a walk. I rarely watch TV anymore. But, of course, I do love to surf the net. On Sundays, that is our family day. We go to church, come home and have lunch, etc. I usually cook a nice meal on Sun so that takes up a good portion of my day. Sun evenings we play our musical instruments, kids do their homework, etc. And, we may have a short Bible study as well. That is pretty much it.
I really prefer staying home. The last thing I want to do on a weekend is go to the mall, shopping, etc. I gave up recreational shopping. Though the "window shopping" is a good idea. My mom and I used to do that when I was young and we didn't have much money. Good memories of that.

I'm like you, I hate leaving the house on the weekend! I'll usually get up at a decent time on Saturday and do some laundry/cleaning and then the rest of the day is spent in the backyard doing yardwork or hanging out in the pool.

Another one who works weekends. I put in a half day on Saturday and Sunday doing the books for a local business. Normally, I go in early so I will have the rest of the day for socializing and leisure activities. Weekdays are too busy for such frivolity.

The joys of retirement.

Weekend is essentially a time for I and my husband to re-connect. He has a normal '9-5' job but because we live in the one of the country's top heaviest commuter areas he ask to get up around 4:30 and by 6 he is on the road, arrives at work around 7:30 and stays there till 3:30. By 6p.m he is home. He has only 3 hours each weekday evening to spent with the kids, return friend's/relative phone calls, go over bills and other non fun but important things that are part of daily living.
But weekend is essentially our time, we sleep late, eat a big break fast together with the kids, I like to do my garage sale/grocery shopping/ on my own without the kids so dh is at home babysitting. We love British comedies and on Saturday around 7p.m we are hooked on PBS starting with "Are you being served". On weekend we often eat out, it's our one big indulgence and entertainment, something I spent money on without feeling a bit guilty. Also if we are lucky, the library has my wishlist DVD on hold and so after the kids go to bed, it's movie night. Most often though its Law and order SVU back to back episodes on either USA or TBS/TNT.
It may sound boring to some ( heck it would have bored me to tears just a few years back) but time passes, priorities change, more importantly financial goals and challenges changes and yes one changes too.

I look forward to weekends all week long

TGIF!!!!!!!!

When I moved here 22 years ago, I had a job as a waitress, so i had to work every weekend. Because of that, my husband started working weekends and he still does. We do go out to eat and then cook out on sunday nights, watching the creek go by.

Well, Normally I am the person that does all the running of the kids. We are at that stage of 6 months before they can drive but there is football scrimmages, baseball practices, girlfriends, friends. ......and so on and so on..........
Our small community does have a great althetic program. Shoot! Our High School Football team tenth through twelve grade has 95 kids on it. They have a B team so every child can play! My SS is at an age break where he can qualify for last year babe ruth and 1st year A team baseball. So he does both. Since BS and BSS has been involued in sports for a while they have the needed things like cleats....Thank Goodness they stopped growing. But I am the (On the road again) at least 6 out of 7 nights. I know all the activities are some what bad blah blah blah....But you have to understand in our tiny town there is no movies......Nothing....Just one McDonalds and 1 hardees. We heard a romur we may get a super store Walmart before too much longer. LOL So either the kids get involued in sports or music activities along with Church or they end up on the back gravel roads getting into trouble. I take SPORTS!
But this weekend I get to go ALL BY MYSELF to the Hot Springs County Yard sale. The way this county does things is everyone in there area is only allowed you have a yard sale certain dates. Helps me if ya ask my opinion. Because everywhere you look there is yard sales. No looking for addresses and street names plus signs you just drive a huge amount less!

-Spend time with family. This weekend we're helping my aunt paint. On the 4th we went to my grandma's cabin on a river.
-Going to the pool. We have a neighborhood pool that is funded through our home owner's association so we make good use of our dues.
-Orgranizing. I'm organizing our home room by room. I'm also trying to learn everything I possibly can to become a moonlighting professional organizer
-Weekly chores. Since it is just my husband and myself, our chores can usually wait until the weekend. We don't have enough laundry, etc. to do during the week. Grocery shopping is usually accomplished on the weekends too.
-Go to the beach. We live 5 minutes from the most beautiful beach! We just go to sunbathe, swim, or go for a walk.
-Studying. My husband is studying to take his state EMT certification test and I am starting on my master's in August.
-Yardwork. when your yard is .10 acre, it doesn't seem like much, but we do live in a gated community so keeping our yard in good condition is important.
-Free military demonstrations. We have many military installations near us. This weekend, the Navy's Blue Angels are doing a show over the beach and in May, the Army Ranger camp holds an open house which is pretty neat. Both are free of charge.

We really don't have a standard "weekend" here as my dh work week is only 3-4 days.

I spend it usually no different than I do every day since I'm a sahm. I do a few less chores around the house but other than that about the same.

Though we do our shopping when dh is off cause it's just easier for me to have another pair of arms taking the kids to the store. Otherwise during the school I try to do the grocery shopping atleast when my oldest is in class during the week to catch the grocery store mark downs .

Beyond that as the saying goes..... SSDD.
