Well, let's see...it's taken on a number of forms. Originally it was a money saving tip that would take about 10 minutes to do each day that you were supposed to try and complete and is still basically that although I am currently writing less detail on the step by step portion of it due to time restraints. You can sign up for the email notice in your control panel along with our regular newsletter and a freebie newsletter.

Jeff: a lot of the tips you've sent out are ones I already do. (Not saying it's not valuable, just that I happened to already do that tip.) I'm conflicted on whether to do the "I completed this task"-do you want to know how many folks started that tip, or how many folks are doing that tip, new or old?

By the way, thanks much for calling my goofy list of why I'm doing the challenge wonderful; I have a lot of respect for you and this site and that made me feel real good.

Whichever you feel comfortable with. At this point we simply use the information to see which tips have been most useful to people although Nate and I have discussed making it into more. If you do make it into more, we'll likely ad a button that adresses situations like yours where you already do it.

Hmmm, if you are signed up you should be receiving the challenges. I'll see if Nate knows what the problem might be...

The easy way to change from Miles per hour to KPH is...

Take the number in MPH and multiply by 8 then divide by 5.

60MPH x 8 /5 = 96KPH

To go the other way from KPH to MPH

96KPH / 8 x 5 = 60MPH

Thumbs up Re: The Daily Money Saving Challenge

My Daily Money Saving Challenge is to call your utility companies and get on their average payment plan so that you don't have those surprise utility bills. My husband kept saying they wouldn't let us do it because we haven't lived here very long, but I did it for the electric company, did it online, and in less than 10 minutes.

Hi crazyliblady, we are already on the budget plan but have heard a new idea -- I haven't tried doing this yet, but think I will at the beginning of the year -- I think it was Mathew Green here who suggested this --

Putting YOURSELF on the plan and perhaps keeping the money in an online savings account. Average electric bill for the month 84.00. Some months 153.00, some months 39.00. Put the average 84.00 into online savings and when the 153.00 month shows up, pull out of savings and pay it. This way you are earning the interest on your money and not the utility company.

I felt so silly when he said this. I saw it so clearly with the mortgage company taking an escrow for taxes and insurance and stopped it as soon as they'd allow it. But how I missed this on the utilities I'll never know. Anyway, am going to start it come January!!

You might want to consider it!

My electric companies plan assumes I will have normal winter/summer consumption..and there is no adjustment for my frugal use! so I would pay MORE for the 'budget plan' I am better off budgeting either like Lux said, average amount, or just budget more on some months than others...

Well, the highest electric bill I have had in the last 10 years, was $160 a month. I budget $40 a week for that, putting away $160 a month in my envelope. When I pay the bill, I take whatever is left and put it in my savings. (In this year, it is my challenge money) Some times it is only a few dollars, but other times it is close to half what I have in the envelope.

Hi! I'm new to this forum and signed up for the Daily Money Saving Challenge nearly two weeks ago and have not received a single thing--other than the confirmation emails from this website. Is this Challenge still a daily thing or did I miss the boat?
