Default Best internet service deals

I am going to get internet within the next month and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on the best deals. I don't have cable tv so i can't just go to my cable provider. I would like wireless, too. Any ideas?

High speed or dial up? If high speed, does the cable company service your area? If not, check with your phone company to see if you can get DSL. If you can get DSL and cable modem consider switching every few months to get the "intro. deals".

If dial-up, we had good luck with usfamily.net and netzero. Stay away from AOL.

Don't even think of Compuserve - they are the absolute worst. Even if you don't have cable TV, you can still have internet cable hooked up if you have lines near your house.

I would check with you friends in the area and see what they like. Also, most companies will give you a free months service if you recommend someone to signup and they do. So, if you go with a friends recommendation, be sure to tell the company who referred you, so your friend will get a free month. I know iland and earthlink both do this in my area.

I have basic dial-up with Juno. $9.95 USD per month and I have no problems with connection or system compatibility (I have Windows XP). I don't need speed at this point.

Juno sounds good. I don't really need speed either and that is cheap. Thanks.

I am using 550access.com, which is $8.95 per month for dial up. I herd that Juno might have more access number than 550access, but I never have any problem with it.

I have used both Verizon and Comcast. loved Verizon Broadband and they even give you a dial up number if you are traveling to use. It was I think 29 bucks a month. Plus if you have a verizon wireless phone or their home service they gave another 5 dollar a month rebate to consolidate bills. I would love to get their FIOS service. I think if its in your area its 35 bucks a month for the 5Meg download speed adn 49 bucks for the 15meg download speed. for an extra fee they will set up a wireless network for you.

I have comcast now but I dont pay for it, my room mates do so I let them decide what they want. I think its over priced for what they use it for. "its so much faster then DSL" Yes I know, so your banking website comes up 3 miliseconds faster now. huge difference. I download a lot of stuff and stream stuff between friends so the higher bandwith is nice but lets face it, most people dont need mroe then the 1.5Meg speeds that most companies provide.

What I havent heard yet is, a lot of municipalities are putting in their own high speed wired and wireless networks. Has anyone used these at all? I am curious as to their experience. If I travel more I might have to get the Verizon wireless broadband. Hmmm.

Dont forget to check http://www.broadbandreports.com/ as they give you a lot of reviews of providers. I have heard a lot of good things abuot covad as weel.

I use Qwest DSL and like it. We have Qwest for our residential phone. I don't have the fastest DSL service as it is not in my area yet but it is faster than dial-up for sure. I didn't get the online servie (MSN usually) so it's about $10 cheaper than if you do get the online service.

I have been very happy with Comcast for the past 7 years that we have had high-speed internet.

Dial-up Do not pay more than $10 a month for it.

High-speed shop around.Compare DSL and High-speed prices in your area. There are alot of good intro deals.
