Yes many times the stuffs like jams, sauce. I too try to eat after their expiry date is over. However, if it is so old after 6 months of expiry date I strictly avoid to have such food.

I agree. The dates on the packages are purely precautionary. Imagine if that can of soup or canned peaches was the only thing on the shelf and times were so rough that even grocery stores have gone empty, would you still question the expiration date on that can? I am guessing if you were starving, you would open it, smell it, check it out, and if reasonable, eat it.

If you have a problem with expiring food, have you ever
just considered buying less at the store in the 1st place.
