If those are classic TV guide issues you may want to research them on ebay to see if they would sell.

Well, I've looked on eBay and some of them are probably worth $8-$12, but a lot of them aren't worth the fees associated with listing them individually and "lots" don't sell for much at all. What I'm hoping is that somebody sees that some of them are worth something so they buy the whole thing. Maybe that's a bit optimistic? What do you think of:

1 for $.50
3 for $1.00
10 for $2.50

have you ever tried selling your stuff on ebay?? I sell on there and I make quite some chump change selling stuff I wanted to get rid of anyways!!

Yeah . .. I do quite a bit on eBay, but most of this stuff isn't worth the shipping cost or wouldn't be profitable enough to justify the time. Thanks for the suggestion though. I like eBay a lot

BTW, I just found out a mega garage sale (150+ houses) is going on the same weekend about 2 miles away. Is this a good thing or a bad thing????? Why do I have a feeling this is a bad thing . . . .

I don't know it might be both!!! That does raise an ineteresting question though, It could be good because people could be in the area causing more people to come by yours, but also if they already seen everything they wanted they might not want to stop again??

if you feel that un comfortable then just dont do it.

i dont do HUGE sales not unlessit is for the neighbors i live with not strangers..

I have gone to HUGE ones and you canreallly get some deals..

i just really mark stuff cheap to get rid of the stuff ya know write soon.. hugs, Marie

Hi Marie. I must have overdone the punctuation a bit on my last post

I'm not all that stressed about the mega sale down the street, I just wonder about the impact (and how to work around it). I think I'll keep the signs the same, but I might modify the internet/ bulletin board flyers to mention that the sale is close to "River Hills". Maybe then we'll pick up some additional traffic from the people trucking down to those sales. Fun fun. I'm up to 1/2 bedroom of tagged stuff now

Kashi-- I think you were right about the whole Craig's list thing. I think a lot of people read that! I just hope they come

Anybody have an idea what somebody would be willling to pay for a turn-of-the-century handmade oak dining table?? I'm thinking $250 but maybe that's too much for anything at a garage sale . . .

Well, I had the garage sale

We sold about $550 worth, but I'm not sure you'd know it by looking at the garage. We still have a lot of stuff! Any ideas on whether or not it's worth it to be open again? (After work/evening on a weekday? Another weekend?) Or is it most likely that we've maxed out this location at this time and I might as well get on with my life

if you are not up for doing the garagesale thing again and you are just looking to get rid of the stuff there is a group called freecycle it is all over the place. just go to freecycle.org to see if there is a group in your area. it also helps when you have something broken and you just don't want to throw it out someone else in your area might know how to fix it and is willing to take it off your hands.

I'd try it again in about a month. A lot of people go on vacation as soon as school is out. So, if you wait a month and do it again, you might hit more customers. Besides, you have already done the time consuming part of pricing and such.

That is great for a yard sale! Congrats. I usually have one at the beginning of summer and right before school. I am having one when we get back from vacation. I generally charge very cheap cuz my goal is to get rid of stuff. Matter of fact my next one is going to be a quarter sale. you know, everything is a quarter! I do hate pricing things.

Well, I decided to open up again last Thursday. Surprisely, lots of people thought it was the first day of the sale. I pulled another $200 out (for a total of $750 + another $350 in things I also listed on eBay

), so now I fell like I've milked it completely. I get to go on with life now

My share will go into the rainy day fund, but I was really happy that a friend of mine who contributed stuff sold almost everything! She and her husband recently took in 3 nieces and nephews, doubling the kids under their care to 6! I can imagine they need all the cash they can get, so I was happy to be able to help . . .at least in a small way. I was also happy that not only did I get some stuff cleaned out, so did my parents and my in-laws
