USPS Shipping
Jeffrey spoke in another thread about saving on shipping supplies and related things. The impression I got was that this advice was targeted to eBay users.
I found out from a friend that the USPS also provides flat-rate shipping for certain packages. This may or may not be a great deal, depending on what and where you're shipping. She uses this flat-rate method to ship boxes of stuff to the soldiers in Iraq.
USPS offers free Priority Mail Flat Rate shipping boxes in two sizes. You can ship them pretty much anywhere for 7.70. Here's the blurb from the USPS site.
# Any weight, any State, $7.70. No matter which Flat Rate Box you choose, the postage is $7.70, regardless of weight or destination.
# No need for a scale. Visit Click-N-Ship to purchase and print postage from your home or small business computer. You don't need a scale.
# No need for a trip to the Post Office. Visit Pickup Options to arrange for next-day pickup at no extra charge (available in most locations) using online Carrier pickup.
The info says "any State", but my friend told me that, although it's not publicized, you can use it to ship almost anywhere. (I'd check with your post office to verify this, as I've not done it.)
Thought I'd pass on the advice.
