I had a friend who is truly frugal tell me the other day that she only takes a bath once a week. She wipes herself down with a wash cloth the other days. I don't know how she can stand it - especially not washing her hair. I can go a day or two without washing my hair, but I feel dirty even on the second day.

I'll be honest here, it's only every other day now. I used to shower every day because I thought my hair needed it, but now that I have two children under the age or two, every other day is working great! I can't go any longer than that though or else I just feel icky and so does my hair. of course, I stay home most days too. When I go back to work I will probably stop skipping days or else do it less.

Daily for me and my oldest daughter (she has too, as she has very oily hair). Every other day for my youngest two daughters. During the summer though, if they don't swim it will be daily, as they get so dirty playing outside vs being at school. If they do swim, we sometimes skip a day.

Daily for everyone except my 18mo old. For her it's weekly unless she manages to get really dirty. I know it's not very frugal, but . . . .

At least daily for me. Sometimes, like Kashi I will take a second bath or shower simply too relax or warm up. As far as not being frugal, therapy or a spa treatment grossly outweighs the cost of my "locking the door and leave me alone" bath at night.

Well I want a shower every day, but I have two young kids and am pregnant, so.. more like every other day. I could not go a week!
DH has to 'soak his head' to get it to listen (ultra curly) so he might as well spend 5 more minutes and get a shower (finally go thim to do this, used to shower at night and soak in the AM) DS and DD, well I know that since it is rainy and icky out and they are in they really arn't that dirty, but making a bath part of the bedtime routine means we don't fight, they like it, are used to it, and no oops forgot to wash the kids. |

I shower every day, but I have oily skin. My kids don't bathe everyday. They shower after they come in from the outside (they stink really really really bad) and before we go places.
They are welcome to take baths at any time. It is a chance for them to get some "alone" time in. We have a small house and there is no where to go to just be alone. I figure it is a mentel health "expense" (meaning we would all go crazy without it). |

Every other day for me. I have dry skin and it gets very bad if I shower every day. Also, learned from dermatologist that soap is bad for skin every day. He says if you "need" to shower/bathe every day, just rinse...no cleansers! He says normal persons can/should go every 2 days with soap. He stated his business is based on the misconception that soap is needed every day...that is what causes 85% of the problems he is paid to treat! He is a family member, so I trust him and his judgment.

Hubby and I shower about every other day. I wash my hair in the sink every day though, my job requires I look as professional as possible, and if I don't wash my hair every day, it's too oily.

Yeah, this may sound a little gross, but if I know I won't be leaving the apt., I don't shower until I either start to smell or know I'll be leaving the apt. for work or what not. Now, that usually isn't more than 2 or 3 days, but for some who shower daily, I know that may sound disgusting. However, we never even reach our minimum water usage, so our bill is always $21/month. Always.

I shower almost every day. I have very oily hair. Kids depends on whether they are dirty or not. But usually 3 to 4 times a week for them.

It's not a different story, clean and dressed I get a LOT more done, though I still never get my shoes on, but hten they are cheap and hurt, maybe I ll get a good pair for christmas, dunno.
Anyway if you are having trouble getting time to shower, try Flylady, she is definatly odd (ok crazy) but it works, if nothing more than the decluttering advice, I have time to shower every day (or more) if I wanted .And yeah go read my last post on this, it is a bit of a change from then ain't it? only a month or so, constantly finding more time in my day thanks to flylady (though last night it wasn't a matter of time, couldn't stand up any longer BBY3s fault) |

3 times a week unless I'm going somewhere & need to take another shower.
Unless we have no electricity. Since we're on a well, if we lose power, we lose water. In that case, I buy baby wipes. Doesn't help with the hair, put at least the most important parts get clean. |

Once a day - every day.
I've lived with people who don't bathe everyday, even when it's 90+ degrees in the summertime. The bedroom they occupy (I've lived with 2 people so far in college who didn't bathe regurlarly) literally smells like a wet, used gym towel. One of the guys wouldn't bathe for up to three weeks... The other one would bathe around once a week, and even his body odor became literally ingrained into the furniture, carpet, and walls of his room. Just walking by his room when the door was open was enough to make me gag. I am not exagerating at all. His room literally stank up my whole apartment. It was horrible... I'm sure that he doesn't know he smells that bad, I never told him. The thing is that we get used to our body odor, and for those who don't bathe regularly, they apparently build up a higher tolerance or something. Deciding on whether or not to take a shower based on your own self assessment as to whether or not you smell is really not a good idea in my opinion... Please bathe at least every other day for the sake of the nice people around who are holding their tongues and not pointing out that you smell like a pig. ![]() |

Just thought I would share this with you because I myself have really oily hair and when I was washing it daily It use to get oily within hours after a shower but the longer you go without washing ti the slower it makes your oil production, so in turn the more you wash the more oil your head makes, and my hair dresser told me washing hair daily is sooo bad for you hair you should hypothetically wash it every 2-3days for healthy hair and I have very very very long hair so keeping my hair healthy is important to me! just some food for thought!!! ![]() |

I use my stick, I twist my hair into a bun (all 3 feet or so of it) and it barely gets wet, so I don't wash it every shower. Works great, have I mentioned before how much I love my stick?
