I was showering twice a day, dh is twice a day, kids (all 3) are once a day. But because where I live we have been having serious water shortages due to low rainfall, the price of water is going up and up, so I have started cutting back to one shower a day in an effort to save some money. The kids have a timer in the bathroom and are only allowed 4 minutes maximum in the shower. Without it they would spend 10 minutes plus in there. Also the shower in the main bathroom has a water saving showerhead which helps. Dh refuses to put one in the ensuite unfortunately, he doesn't like them.

I am a every other day or two person. I also have dry skin that gets terrible with frequent showers. Those scunchies that people use cause my fingers to peel. like an orange. My hair is washed no more than 3 times per week. If I do it more than that it looks like a hay stack. This is of course different if I have been in the garden all day or something equally sweaty.

I shower every second day if i'm not going anywhere because we are on very tight water restrictions here in my part of Australia. My partner showers every day after work but doesn't worry about it on Sundays (his only day off). The baby has a bath every night that we are home because it helps settle him for bed and he doesn't need much water anyway. If i do miss a day with him i just wipe him over with a warm washcloth. I love that clean baby smell.

Oh, and as for the actual topic of this thread, Every other day cause my skin and hair get sooooo dry and itchy if I do everyday. In the summer though, I usually take a shower every day since it's so hard to dry out in this weather. |

I take a shower every day that I work(out) or go out--so usually everyday. I always wash my hair, regardless of whats going on. On the rare occasion I have a day off AND I don't go anywhere in public I will sometimes forgo the shower portion.
Also, when it comes to personal hygene I really don't think about being "frugal". When I shop for products I am always price conscious and I try to limit the amount of product I use but I don't NOT get a haircut, wash my body or hair, or anything else like that based on price. IMHO if you don't shower BECAUSE it'll add a few dollars onto the montly utility bill that is being "cheap" and not "frugal". My body care comes before money. |

Showering all the time is not always an option, especially when living outside of the States. I lived in South Africa so I understand about the cost of water.
My little son gets his bath first thing in the AM. When he is done I use that water for the hand washings...that saves me alot by not requiring a washer load for smaller items. When I was back in South Africa, I could even hand wash my jeans after the bath and it worked fine. My once-a-day bath is right before my work. I can wash my hair and get everything done in my bath. If possible, try having your family takes baths instead of showers. Cheers Hun! Bluezy & Wee CJ |

People, just remember, it is summer and its hot. You are the last one to smell yourself if you smell bad. I am trying to figure out how to tell a co-worker she needs to bathe more often, without hurting her feelings or embaressing her--it litteraly is making me gag at work, and the supervisor won't do anything about it, even though several of us have asked. I know the woman has no idea, and would change if she only knew......

that is a tough question. I think it matters on how well you know her too. I was thinking of a small nice bath set (sample sets from like Victoria Secrets) might be a nice gesture but some ppl take it bad too. you might find a cute excuse day online like tomorrow June 29 is remote control day and June 30th is Sky day LOL( found these http://cards.123greetings.com/cgi-bi...theholidayspot ) and just find a matching color or somthing and just say Happy .............. day LOL |

If your company has an HR department you can usually go to them, though you might want to mention to your supervisor you are going, the HR will be comming back to ask if he/she said anything yet.

I take at least one shower a day. I need my shower just to wake up. That's why I don't like camping! Haha. If I wanted to be really cheap I could go to the company gym and shower there in the morning. A lot of people who work out in the mornings do that. they will even provide razors and shaving cream if you "forget" yours. I work out at noon so I take a shower after that. On those days its a two shower day and if I go out on a weekend I usually take a seperate one.
I am lucky that I dont pay for water. My roommates do. And I get my hair care products cheap because my mother cuts hair for a living. You can save money and still shower every day. Just get wet, then turn off the water while you lather up. Only turn it on when you need to rinse. That right there will save you tons. Water and soap are cheap so I don't see any reason not to shower if you are going to be out and about. |

Daily shower of 3 to 5 minutes. Once or twice a year I treat myself to a bath. If I am just hanging out at the house I have been known to skip a day. I just don't feel right if I don't bathe though.

Louisiana is a very hot and humid state, so I could never go more than a day without showering. Right when I step outside I begin to sweat and I just feel downright icky. I'll wake up a few minutes before class (dorm is right across the street from the building that houses majority of my classes) so I'll forego a shower for some extra zzzzs, but right when I step outside I regret it and usually end up running back to my dorm in between classes to shower.
But I have mastered the art of 5 minute showers recently when my alarm didn't go off and my friend pounded on my door to wake me up (we are in the same classes), so I no longer have to choose between extra sleep and a shower. *looks around* On the days that I wake up way too late to take a shower in time, extra deoderant and one of those dryer sheets do a great job making you smell fresh and clean, even if you aren't. |
