Unhappy Bed Bugs in Dallas !! :(

Hi Guys!
I live in Boston, but own a home in Dallas, TX where my parents and younger sister live. They had bed bug infestation for the last 3-4 months. The infestation was minimal so they were spraying repellents and other chemical applications all by themselves... but the pest has not shown any sign of retreat.

They are all sleeping downstairs and rarely going upstairs to limit the spread of infestation. Mom says it's not too much but it's high time the problem is seriously tackled. We had three people from various companies come over to do estimates. Estimates range from $1800 to $2700. $2700 guy said guaranteed for 6 months, and if they come back he'll re do the application.

But isn't that very costly? The home is overall only 1800 sq ft. And downstairs needs minimal application.

Does anybody have any good referrals that I could use? I'm in a very deep financial distress and this is a a super surprise to myself and will probably put a big dent in my financial recovery.

I think y parents already spent any where in between $400 - $500 and my mom has finally given up now.

Help !!!!!

I think that sounds about right. I've read a lot of threads on other forums about bed bugs. Most spend anywhere from 3500-5000 to eradicate. It's a very serious problem to conquer. I've read about these bed bug sniffing dogs having to come in to detect if any bugs are left and that is expensive. It skeeved me out when we went on spring break. I took a lot of precautions to make sure none of those buggers would hitch a ride back home with us. Good luck.

Bed Bugs require the services of a well-trained professional, so it will come out pretty expensive. However before you decide on a professional you should note that someone with the proper credentials will usually give you a written inspection report, and an action plan of how to prepare for treatment and prevent further infestation. Also an experienced exterminator will base quotes on inspection findings, not flat fees. Make sure that they will visit often until the job is done. This usually requires a few times of them coming down and spraying your house.
