Or, you could have a garage sale. Craigslist will work well for you too though.

Craig list is where you will have more exposure, more potential buyers will see the product you are selling. In addition the people that come to a garage sale don't really know what they are looking for, simply a good deal, something really cheap. Your visitors in Craig list will be looking specifically for that piece of furniture. You may get a better price for it.

Ebay would also be a good place to sell. On the other hand, you can also use your Facebook page (in case you have one) to sell.

I am personally a huge fan of craigslist. More money seems to come from craigslist than garage sales. In a garage sale you only have people who are driving by, and maybe you won't have the specific thing they are looking for. On craigslist potential buyers are often times searching for the item you are selling, so they are willing to pay more for exactly what they want instead of compromising at a garage sale. Also, you don't have to deal with paypal like you do on ebay or shipping. Best advice, take at least 3 photos of every major furniture piece you are trying to sell, and include measurements! Buyers love to see photos which will give you an instead head start on the competition, and including measurements often helps to eliminate people coming to your house then not purchasing an item because it doesn't look as large or as small in a photo. Also, check out the prices of similar items to your own listed on craigslist, because competitive pricing is always the most important factor to getting things sold. Good luck!

I have sold lots of furniture on craigslist! In my opinion it's the best because you can get competing offers on what you're selling and get a better price for it than a garage sale where people are expecting rock-bottom prices.

Craigslist does work well, but I would personally only buy and sell locally. You run more of a risk selling it to someone far away, and vice versa for purchasing something far away. I knew someone who bought a couch on Craigslist, and I personally was just thinking of doing this myself today. Don't know if anyone out there thinks you can sell furniture E-Bay...guessing they don't really allow it?

A garage sale, or you could put up some posters in your local neighborhood to get this over with quickly.
