Least frugal thing you do?

Tuesday night is takeout noight at our place. Many places offer cheap Tuesdays so we get to enjoy being out yet still stick to the budget.

Best of both worlds.

Books. I love to own any book I read and more often than not I buy books at Barnes & Noble. I'm a member so I use my discount and any coupons I can find but it's still more than what thrift stores charge for books.

Purses are a close a second.

* DirecTV in 3 rooms: $67/mo. If I had it my way, it would be down to the TV room only. Also I wish I could cut out all the crappy local channels and customize a package to FoodTV, HGTV, Discovery, TLC and the Science Channel. That's all I want! Now the boyfriend wants to UPGRADE to HDTV. But he said he'd pay for the difference himself.

* Gym membership: $33/mo. It's 1 mile from my home. But I could be using a better, bigger, more modern gym for FREEEEEEEE. My work provides free membership to the gym closest to our offices...but it's 40 miles from where I live. So I would have to start waking up at the buttcrack of dawn to go. I think this will be my first "Welcome to SavingAdvice.com" resolution.

* My CONSUMER tendancies. I like to shop and yes I know it should not be considered an "activity", but I really do enjoy getting up on a Sunday with no plans, throw on a sundress, grab a coffee, and head downtown to peruse sale racks. Did I need to buy that nailpolish? Nope. Did I need a new "cute white shirt"? Nope.

* Buying organic meat, eggs and dairy. Veggies can be pesticide laden for all I care...but I prefer cruelty and chemical free animal products. Free range eggs. Grass fed beef. Hormone free milk.

I think the car washes are my least frugal thing. It's my first brand new car, and I hate seeing her filthy from my wretched commute (80 miles a day). I don't get them quite as often as I used to (used to every weekend, now it's 2-4 weeks depending on the amount of guck), but I still love to see her shine. :-)

I have an 80mi/day commute, too! And yes, I did go nuts on car washes when I first got my new car (a year ago). Now it's about once a month. And actually, going to a car wash saves water - yes, it'll cost you more, but being in California, I'm always on the lookout to conserve water and energy. Rationalization!

I go to the gas station "touch free" places ($1 off if you fill up at the same time), then pull over and use the towels to hand dry the last few bits. Then I do splurge on a claybar treatement in the spring to revive the finish. I love my shiny car.

I have a shiny car too. My husband washes it at least 3 times a week and he spends a hour. He always hand dries it too. Everyone always think that my car is brand new.

I used mobile phone... prepaid plan... 2 times.. Still cheaper than normal plan and was useful at that time....
First plan cost me about $7 / month for 8 months....
Second one cost about $25 / month for 4 months...

I won't use them again...

I eat out A LOT which I know is not only bad for my pocket, its also bad for me, but I do work 2 jobs 14-18 hours a day ...ugh...

also I'm still kinda a newbie here and to saving, any ideas would be helpful

I think our cable is the least frugal thing we have. It's pretty expensive. It keeps us from renting movies so I guess that's good. I don't think we'd rent enough to pay for the cable though.

I would say eating out is the least frugal thing we do. But it sure is fun!

For me it's definitely my old car. Right now it's getting a new engine put in and we all know how much that cost.

I like the car and it drives fine, but I've also fixed just about everything on it. I'm hoping to put in the investment up front so that later the car will last me a long time without having to buy a new car.

I know I can put a lot more money towards savings and pay down debt had I not been trying to fix this car.

When I find leftovers in the refrigerator that look really scary I trash them container and all. I realize the frugal thing to do would be to wash the containers out but I just can't put a price on vomit prevention.

I have paid thousands of dollars for my kids to have braces. Their teeth were fairly straight and probably could have gone without the braces, but I felt like it would be something they would always wish they had done when they were young....
