hmm...I'm thinking about this...it's that time of the year, when they take measurements for new uniforms here at the office...(reserved for customer service and administrative assistants only)...Now, the uniforms are free, and I really don't have too many clothes now...but my dilemma is this...NOT wearing one gives you a different status somehow...for example, I know that, as long as I'm not wearing one (which I have managed the past two years) the project managers, directors and even VP's in the organization tend NOT to think of me as an admin assist...I know MY VP specifically considers me an administrator rather than an admin assist...should I go take measurements and get the uniform this year, or just pretend "Oooops! I totally forgot again, now I won't have uniforms" again?
![]() Edited to add: I know some of my fellow admin assist colleagues resent the fact that I do not wear a uniform! ![]() |

I'm a team player. Always have been. Me, I would get the uniforms. Save some money on the clothes. Be who you are and be proud! Screw the rest of them!

I have always liked uniforms because they make dressing for work easy, but I can understand the dynamics that you're facing too. If there is a preception that management doesn't take the people wearing uniforms as seriously as those who don't, I would probably not start wearing a uniform. Dynamics at work are hard enough with someone not takig you as seriously as they once did. I guess you really need to sit and decide how much the change will effect your everyday work and relationship with those at the office.

I am silly I would base my decission on if the uniform looked good on me or not

since the uniform is not really mandatory, but preferred for admin assists, I will go and be measured, and that way at least I'll have them if I decide I need them (I might limit use to 2 days a week, for example)

My 2 cents, I wouldn't go for the uniforms especially if u r treated with more respect. I would think that you would more likely be promoted since they already seem to think of u as part of management.
On the other hand, if your clothing doesn't state "management", you might be better off in uniforms. In the end, u have 2 do what u think is best. Good luck |
