Default Accidentally saving electricity on fridge

My fridge has two light bulbs, one recently burned out.

I was about to change it when I noticed one light is more than enough, I actually like it this way, it is easier on the eyes, particularly when you open the fridge in the middle of the night.

I guess it doesn't make a huge difference, but it made me think, My batthroom has about 5 lightbulbs, do I need all 5 or maybe 4 is enough.
My dinner table lamp also has 5 lightbulbs.

My corridor, which is small has three.

I do have dimmers everywhere, I have to find out if dimming actually uses less electricity.

I think each switch controls too many light bulbs at a time.

Our bathroom has 2 bulbs. We only keep one in.

Our hall fixture has 3 bulbs. We only use 2.

Our freezer has a bulb. It burned out years ago and we've never replaced it.

ETA: We don't do this to save money. It is just too bright with all the bulbs in.

Agreed - when/if our bulbs every burn out - we probably won't replace most of them. Our bathrooms have 8 bulbes each, etc.

Thing is we've been in the house 8 years and never replaced a bulb in the bathroom. So will see. But I agree - it's not a cheap thing at all - it's just WAY too much light. In our old home, burned out lights were permanent fixtures.

Makes me curious how many bulbs are in our fridge. ?? I'll have to look.

I'm in the process of replacing my kitchen lighting. I had six 40 watt bulbs going and the kitchen was lit up like a runway. Kind of ridicoulus and I stupidly ignored this for too long. I'm now instaling a fixture that will use two energy efficient bulbs and should save over 200 watts every time the switch is flipped.

I now run energy efficient bulbs wherever it's practical and I love them.

Heh-heh, I happen to like my house lit up like Greenback's runway, yet I guess I'm saving money similarly due to forgetfulness. It keep forgetting to change the spent bulbs in the bedroom until late at night when I'm turning in, at which point the prospect of sleep makes me tolerate the dimness.

As I understand it, using dimmers on lights uses less electricity, and using a dimmer can also lengthen a bulb's average life span. They do make dimming compact fluorscent and L.E.D. bulbs, although they can be tough to find.
