When my son was that age, I would put him in his baby swing, and we would watch TBN. He would giggle at the preachers for an hour before getting bored. He was happy and it brought me so much joy, I don't think I will ever forget it. It is some of my favorite memorys of him at that age.

Your child likely loves having you hold him dancing around the room, the 3 pluses are music, bouncing and YOU. Music is a great stimulant; sing nursery rhymes. make up flashlight peek-a-boo, close the curtains, have the flashlight dance around the walls, ceiling, floor, through a colander etc. 16 mo/old loves to rip magazines, cookie dough [can be bought in a tub] with baby adding sprinkes, scavenger hunt with a baby sized bucket finding items on your list like socks, tissue, face cloth, story book etc. [whatever you keep at tykes level], we added a few drops of food color to bath water which made interesting responses. Baby 'painted' bathtub with shaving foam squirted into muffin tin section, mixed with a couple of drops of food color, baby used a foam paint brush to paint the tub surround. Play in sand/snow. Use transit, ride around on the bus and talk about what baby sees.

Time flies, I just realized I posted this back in June, he is two years old now!

All that you mention works, plus, he plays alone for 10-15 minutes at times. He does a lot of pretend playing, feeding imaginary food, pretending to be hispreschool teacher (it is hilarous!), and "going to bed" snore sounds included. By the way he doesn like me sneaking on him when he is on his own world. Out of respect I approach him only if I have to and clapping so he hear me coming.

He still LOVES the outdoors, even if it is the parking lot at our appartment complex.

The nursery trip was a great sucess. I did spend $7 on two smoothies. One for me, one for him. Unnecesary, but it was good!!

We had a great time! And there are plenty more to visit.
