Default Re: Direct Deposit

I have direct deposit and no fees. I also get free checks as long as I use their generic checks. I do have a few checks that come in the mail and get free envelopes from them to mail in if I am not going to the bank soon. My bank is at the grocery store so I do stop there once in awhile to get quarters for wash.

i like direct deposit due to the fact that i can take $10 and put it into seperate accounts and forget about it. for instance, right now, i have the main amount of $ going into my checking acct, then $10 into savings, $10 into emergency fund, and that is it right now. it doesn't sound like a lot, but i have $150 in both accounts right now after i started doing that almost 4 months ago, and even a $150 cushion is pretty nice, if a bigger bill comes up or something, at least $150 is already paid, instead of freaking out about the whole thing, right?(for instance, $500 deductable for insurance)(which is my goal to save and more in emergency fund)

I have using Direct Deposit for 5 years now. I just set it up so once I get the direct deposit, I will have a part of the money transferred to my savings account. This helps me not spend that money.

I've used Direct Deposit providing the employer offers it (some don't). I don't pay any fees. The only thing I've paid for was checks (I hate generic ones).

FWIW I use a bank not a CU. I like the idea of credit unions, however the nearest one is 30 miles away, and I would be restricted to the ATMs that I would use. Also I might be moving soon, and changing banks would be the last thing on my mind.
