Default Saving on Car Insurance

Car Insurance is a rather large expense each month. I've noticed that car insurance companies gradually increase their rates every 6 months. Usually just enough to make you grumble but not take action. After awhile this adds up so I usually end up switching car insurance every three years or so. I was literally amazed how much I saved on this go around by switching to Geico. Anyhow, what is the general opinion on car insurance coverages and deductibles. Do you go with the minimum coverages with maximum deductible or do you go somewhere in between?
