Default Fun Valentine Day Gifts

What are your plans for giving this Valentine's Day? I usually whip up a large batch of DH's favorite cookies. That always seems to make him happy. I have friends that go all out on this day while others keep it fun and simple. How much time and effort do you put into it?

Good question! DH and I usually exchange cards and that's about it. When I was younger I used to wish that he would buy me flowers and a gift. Now I realize that's not how to show someone you love them. We do that in little ways year round. At this point if he brought roses home I would be mad about the expense!

I do like to give the kids a little something. This year Nick will get a large Hershey bar; his favorite candy. Not sure about Stephanie yet. She is giving M&M'S out. At the M&M web site you can personalize the candy. You choose the color and saying.

My parents' anniversary is February 14th. Dad doesn't buy her flowers nor do they go out to dinner. Too expensive and too crowded. They must be doing something right as this year will mark 52 years of marriage.

As a bit of a joke gift, I think I'll give my husband some canned fish or in a far. He loves this stuff and I hate it. I always make a fuss over it when he eats it because it smells so much. As a peace offering, I'll give him a bit to show how much I love him.

And chocolate, always chocolate.

WOW! That is fantastic. You don't hear about marriages lasting that long much these days.

Well, mom still wants to bop him upside the head. She is working today, more so to get out of the house than anything. She is 72 and still very active.

WE used to do the gift thing, but the third year he gave me a HUGE teddy bear I was at an absolute loss for where to put it!

This year he is getting salmon, curtesy of my mother. But I will be the one cooking it in the sexy outfit. And a homemade card from both kids and one from me. I might make cookies, but I doubt it. Actually I think I will trade, my neighbor actually can make chocolate chip cookies (I know they are easy, but I am completly incapable) Anyway I might think of something I can do for her to get her to make some.

Last year I had no cash, so I made a big (7") heart shaped cookie for each lamb. I used icing and wrote on them. My dd13 still talks about that!

We do not really celebrate Valentines Day as a couple. We tend to be romantic most days of the year with notes etc.

Though for the kids. I will try to make it fun for them. I will make some heart cookies some to take to school and some for the house. I have some leftover red balloons that I may put around the house as well.
