Default Acceptable ways to save money?

I had a discussion with a friend the other day about what is "acceptable" and what Is "unacceptable" in regards to saving money. Here are 5 questions...I'm curious to hear your answers and reasoning:

Is it okay to

1) Have a friend stay in a hotel room overnight when you paid for a single?

2) Sneak food out of an all you can eat buffet?

3) Taking lots of ketchup packs at a fast food restaurant so you don't have to buy a bottle?

4) Take you own food into a movie theater?

5) Giving a false age for your kids to get a discount?

1) Have a friend stay in a hotel room overnight when you paid for a single? Guilty

2) Sneak food out of an all you can eat buffet? Guilty

3) Taking lots of ketchup packs at a fast food restaurant so you don't have to buy a bottle? Not Guilty

4) Take you own food into a movie theater? Guilty - is this illegal. When I was younger we did it all the time as a family bring in our own popcorn without hiding it.

5) Giving a false age for your kids to get a discount? Not Guilty

Is it okay to

1) Have a friend stay in a hotel room overnight when you paid for a single? No- but you probably got overcharged to begin with.

2) Sneak food out of an all you can eat buffet? No

3) Taking lots of ketchup packs at a fast food restaurant so you don't have to buy a bottle? Lots? No. One or two because you had taken them but ended up not using them? Sure. My 80-something grandmother brings home creamers from McD's for her coffee at home. Hee hee - this is a woman who saves money on Social Security.

4) Take you own food into a movie theater? Yes

5) Giving a false age for your kids to get a discount? Guilty - DD was two months premature, so we didn't tell Disneyland she was three until her actual due date had come and gone. Now that she's old enough to talk and reason - and has a very well-developed sense of right and wrong - we wouldn't do that.

3) Taking lots of ketchup packs at a fast food restaurant so you don't have to buy a bottle? Not a lot, a few here and there.

I don't think it is proper to do any of them, but I'm sure many people do.

There's a difference between acceptable and right. I think all those ways are accepted in our society these days...but that doesn't make them right. There are plenty of other ways to save money without cheating anyone.

The only one I wouldn't feel a tiny guilty about is sneaking food into the theater. The theater does belong to the owners, and legally they get to decide what you can bring in. But morally, I just don't have a problem with busting someone's monopoly.

A very college thing to do, but not right.

2) Sneak food out of an all you can eat buffet?

the same as staying for 2 meals..no.

3) Taking lots of ketchup packs at a fast food restaurant so you don't have to buy a bottle?

That's being a cheapskate.

4) Take you own food into a movie theater?

It's ok

5) Giving a false age for your kids to get a discount?

Not right, but I would probably do if it was on the borderline.
