My son Nathaniel is the only one of us that will eat the heels. If he doesnt, ill use that part for croutons. Thats only way i end up eating the heels.

We keep our bread in the freezer, since it's just the two of us now and we don't eat it fast enough. I use the heels for toast, or for bread crumbs, or even to put out for the birds. We started saving money just by keeping the bread in the freezer, so any use of the heels is just a bonus now

Sometimes I wonder if it's a mind thing . A lot of times I make sandwiches with them and put the non end side on the inside of the sandwich. You wouldn't even know the difference. We never throw food out either, though .

One thing that you could do to make the heels "tastier" is to use it as one of the layers for a Crema de Fruta...yummy
