Default Number of kids and level of frugality

I was wondering - do you think the number of children a family has is at all related to how frugal they are? Is it easier to be frugal with just one (not as many necessary expenses), or with many (have to spend more just to meet necessary expenses)?

I think if I had more than just my one I'd spend about the same amount of money, but no one kid would get quite as many new books, activities, art supplies, etc.

I would think that the more children you have, the more necessity to be frugal.

I have 3 kids and we have to be frugal because of the 3. I did work part-time and earn a good salary when I had just my oldest. When I had the twins 3 years later we went down to one salary because working part-time for 3 kids under 4 was not worth it.

I have always been frugal. I had two children and watched every penny. It would have been the same no matter how many children I had. The money only goes so far.
