There is an interesting chart showing the average monthly cost of lots of appliances on this site. It is from Seattle, so the killowatt costs may not be the same, but it gives you a good sense of the cost of drying clothes and keeping your computer on. Just go to the site, then go to "How much do your appliances cost to run".
