Frugal Printing

Anyone have suggestions on how to save money on printing costs? Has anyone ordered from an on-line printing company? Are there any you recommend? Any I should stay away from?

I volunteered to shop around for printing for a non-profit I'm involved with. Quality just needs to be okay, not excellent (but not terrible either). What we need to get printed are: standard pages of 8-1/2 x 11 black & white, envelopes (with return address), labels, and color tri-fold brochures.

Vista Print does good work they have a lot of free offers you just pay shipping and handling. HOWEVER, I placed an order with them once and about a month later something showed up on my debit card (the card I paid them with) from a company I'd never heard of (BusinessMax). I googled it and it showed a lot of complaints from people who'd ordered on vista print who'd gotten the same charge. I ended up disputing it with my bank and got it taken off.

If you wanted to order from them, it may be ok if you mail them a payment like a money order or something. I know they accept other forms of payment.

My friends is a printing broker she does jobs for E-Pass. Do you want me to ask her about it?

I have never heard of a printing broker ... never imagined such a job existed.
If she knows how to get a deal on printing, and is willing to share, by all means ask her! Thank you.

We use Print Place in Texas. Their work is very good and we've had no quality problems. Their prices are reasonable too.

My understanding is that a printing broker is someone who shops around for the best price for printing large amounts for a company (in her case E-Z pass).

What kind of quantity is she looking for? That would depend on a lot. If it's a very small lot I would say go to a Minuteman Press (it's a chain) or Kinkos makes great digital copies. Let me know the quantity and maybe I can help her out further.

Given what your friend does for a living, the quantities I am looking for (between 100-500 per item) is I'm sure extremely small potatoes. I will look in to Minuteman Press or Kinkos. Thank you!

Yes my friend said,
a lot of larger printing plans have minimums of 1,000 or more

I've changed my paper margins on everything, use draft ink on everything. Buy 100% recycled paper and ink, etc.
