Default Coupon Organization

Any good suggestions on how to organize your coupons? I feel like I always have a big stack of them.

Thanks!

Cheryl

Some people use envelopes and label them like cereal, baking, cleaning, etc. and use a separate envelope for each. I have a small coupon accordian file that I use with labels on each. I found it at one of those dollar stores a few years ago and it's plastic.

Thanks--that sounds like a good idea--right now I use paper clips and it isn't really working for me (they fall out, etc).

I sort them by aisle. I have a small accordion envelope that I use. I place coupons for BJ's in the front and then the rest by aisle. I shop at one store typically (commissary) so it works for me.

My grocery list is set up by aisle so when I am done meal planning and making my list I go through the coupons to see what I can match. If there are ones that will expire soon and of products that I know we will use then I will pull them and add to my list.

My grocery list is a horizontal piece of paper divided in thirds so the coupons I am going to use are placed in between the folds. I have never lost one yet.

I have plastic box (think next size larger than a 3x5) with alphabetized, tabbed cards. I file the coupons based on what they are for, examples:

Windex is a cleaner, file w/ C.
Tide is a detergent, file w/ D
Pepcid is a drug, file w/ D.

That way I can see what coupons I have for a particular need and can more easily determine which brand is the better buy.

I have 2 accordian style files. One big and one small. I use the big one and sort the coupons into categories like household cleaners, baby needs, laundry uses....ect to keep at the house. Then when I make my shopping list, I pick out the coupons I need and put them into the smaller one using the same method. It keeps me from getting messed up and it also stops me from impulse shopping just because "Hey, I've got a coupon for that!"....helps me stick to my list better

As long as it works for you then it is a good system.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I ended up buying a "folio" and trading card pages so I can see all the coupons. Now I just have to set it up!
