What books have you found motivational, inspirational, or otherwise helpful in your quest to spend less and save more? I am determined to curb my spending and really start saving this year. I'm going to pick up the Tightwad Gazette from the library this evening as a start!

Tightwad Gazette was the best for me.
Your money or your Life
The Encyclopedia of Country Living, but I wouldn't buy this one if you don't garden & don't
raise chickens or other types of farm animals.

Have you ever heard of The Wealthy Barber? It's a great book for basic personal finance.

I picked up Frugal for Dummies last night at the library. I've gotten halfway through it already. it doesn't have a lot of stuff that I don't already know, but it is nice to brush up.

I really love my "Simple Abundance" by Sarah Ban Breathnach
It focusses on creating abundance in your life- her basic concepts are gratitude, simplicity, order, harmony, beauty and joy'
It will change your idea of what abundance is- which can change how you spend money and how you define your needs and wants

My favorites that I keep going back to are, The Complete Tightwad Gazette, Miserly Moms, and Not Just Beans. (that last one is a cookbook, but has tons of tips as well)

Hope that helps!
Tami

Thought I'd add my 2¢:

*Tightwad Gazette (ALL)*
*Your Money or Your Life*
*Financial Peace*
- any of Suze Orman's (esp *9 Steps to Financial Freedom*)

but most inspirational and humbling (for me) are:
*Living More with Less* and the *More-with-Less Cookbook* both by Doris Janzen Longacre

I wholeheartedly agree on Amy D's TG series and Your Money or Your life.

I do not have kids but found Miserly Moms very good on household issues: I was quite surprised. I just lent a friend all my frugal books so unfortunately I don't have 2 other titles at hand: I can picture the covers but not the titles. The Cheapskate series was NOT my favorite.

30 Days to a Simpler Life may have a hokey title, but it was very inspirational for me. It recognizes that people can have different simplicity styles: frugal, uncluttered, super organized, selective, etc. It helped me with letting go of clutter, both physical and mental.

My choices:

1) Your Money or Your Life - Made me realize how much items really do cost in terms of my time/life.
2) Tightwad Gazette (all of them) - should me how it could be done.
3) Total Money Makeover - Inspired me and taught me the myths about debt.
