Default Saving on Gas by getting new job?

I'm wondering if I should start looking for a new job. I currently work about 30 minutes from my house, but soon I will be working on only Saturdays and Sundays due to school. Should I look for something closer to home to save on gas? I feel like the money I'm making is going straight into my gas tank.

Can you find something similiar closer to home? What are the reasons you like working where you do? What makes you willing to drive 30 minutes? How would your pay be affected if you found a differnet job? Would the pay go down as the amount you are spending on gas go down, or would you actually make about the same but the cost of gas would go down?

I drive 30 minutes because they worked with my school hours and allowed me to stay full-time to keep my benefits. Now that I will be part-time I don't see any reason to stay. I work as a Front Desk Associate at a hotel and to be honest I don't like it one bit. I would try to find something making around the same amount of money...which isn't much to begin with. It's about $9 an hour after taxes.

If you're driving 30 mins to a job you hate then yeah I'd be looking for a new one. Since you're working part-time it doesn't sound like you really need this job.....so yeah I'd probably look for another one. With summer coming up you might be able to find a little part time job. I work part-time a Macy's. Retail always seems like a good place to look for jobs like that.

If you lost the medical benefits....Can you be picked up by your parents medical plan and pay them the increase in premium, or have you checked out Blue cross Blue Shield for Students (availiablity varies by State). I could see the medical benefits being worth the drive but if they are gone. Yes find something closer and better.

That's for the Blue Cross info... I'll have to check that out. Being un-insurance makes me nervous.
