Default Avon Jewelry at Big Lots

In a couple different Big Lots stores I have seen Avon jewelry. The quality seemed very, very poor-- less than the costume jewelry at say, Target, Walmart, or K-Mart.

Has anyone else seen this Avon stuff at Big Lots? Do you know if that is typical of Avon, or would it just be the "loser" pieces? I've got an Avon catalog right now and having seen the Big Lots pieces sure makes me look differently at the catalog photos.

I got some Avon jewelry for Christmas. Don't tell my grandparents....but I will not wear it. It is really cheap looking. I understand it's costume jewelry...but still.

Sounderella: Maybe you could wear it when you see them or take a picture of yourself with the jeweley on and send it to them.

Maybe they bought your jewelry at Big Lots. ??

I was just thinking that if ALL Avon jewelry was really as bad as what I saw at BL, then it would have a bad reputation among regular customers. So I thought maybe some, even most of what is offered in their catalogs might be okay.

I got my ears pierced for the first time less than a year ago and Inow look at the jewelery everywhere I go now. I picked up a Avon catalog from the Sav-a-Lot cashier right before I wrote this post.

From a jewelry sellers viewpoint I must say that photos are the hardest part of marketing. They can be misleading for sure. They can also not show the item good points as well.

I have one pair of Avon earrings given to me as a gift over 10 years ago and am happy with the quality. But have never bought from the catalog myself, and have not noticed their items in BIg Lots (I have only been in there once in the last 6-9 months though).

Inexpensive but better quality jewelry is of course hugely available on Etsy where you converse directly with the person who makes the item. It is a buyer's market over there because jewelry is very very competitive. Let me know if you need any pointers.

I have bought four pairs of earrings at Etsy. This seller represents one portion of the range of my tastes and I bought some really cool earrings from her.
