Default Frugal New Year Resolutions

Have you thought about your New Year resolutions yet? These are mine. I'm even trying to get a head start on them:

Enjoy life more on less money
Call and email instead of write
Walk and ride (for exercise) instead of drive

If you have decided, please let me know. I know there are more that I can add from other's ideas

Keep taking out $100 every two weeks out of check, eat more healthier, write in my frugal journal everyday, read a section of the bible each day, go back to church, spend more time with my family, keep my change for a year and see how much change I can save in a year, decluttter more (doing pretty good on this so far this year), and try to relax more and not take everything so serious. Have a good day. Renee

I am going to loosely try a no spend year. I'm not going to spend any money except for things I need, and not the things I want. I'll still do Christmas and birthdays for my family and things like that. I don't need any clothes, so I won't buy any. Clothes will only become a need if I lose weight. Shoes will become a need if mine wear out, but until then, they would only be a want. Eating is a need, whereas dining out would be a want. Packing my own coffee is a need, whereas Starbucks is a want. You get the picture.

I don't think it's taking frugalty too far because I basically have all I need and then some. My life is too cluttered for any more wants.

Signed: Trying to break the obsessive/complusive buying habit.

something about a whole year is just so long for me, but my next money habit I am trying to create is to make the year of gifts more from the heart and less from the wallet. Also to try and get the kids to make the cards for birthdays and such and hoepfully actually remember to send them!

Frugal resolutions - or frugal habits and routines to be developed....

1. Continue working on eating at home more and dining out less.
2. Plan ahead for birthdays and other special occasions so that I'm not stuck at the last minute for a gift or card.
3. Use what I have before buying more - food, cleaning items, etc.
4. Walk or bike more, drive less.

Princess Perky, If a year is to long do it week to week or month to month. What helps me keep on track is each day I think of how I can be more frugal, when go to get something I think do I really need it or is it a want? By doing the above it helps me keep things in perspective instead of being overwhelmed thinking about my goals in a year. Good luck.

Yes, I think baby steps would be more helpful to most people. Actually, my no spend year is doomed to fail. But as Seaar says, each day just think about ways you can be more frugal. I give quite a bit away to family and charities, and I still plan on doing that. But for myself, I really don't need any more toys, and trinkets, and clothes, and shoes, and etc.
