Default Stain Removal Tips

Protect your investment in washable clothing & linens by promptly & correctly treatig stains:

Baby formula
petreat or soak stains with a product containing enymes
soak dried stains at least 30 minutes then launder normally

Blood
for fresh stains soak in cold water then launder
for dried stains pretreat or soak in warm water with a product containing enzymes then launder
if stain remains use peroxide or bleach safe for the fabric

Chocolate
pretreat or prewash in warm water with a poduct containing enzymes
or treat with a prewash stain remover then launder
if stain remains rewash with bleach safe for the fabric

Collar & cuff soil
pretreat with a prewash sain remover, liquid laundry detergent
or a paste of granular detergent & water

Crayon
for a few spots 1st scrape off the excess with a dull knife
place the stained area between clean paper towels & press with a warm iron
replace paper towels as the crayon is absorbed
place stained area facedown on several layers of clean paper towels
sponge with a prewash stain remover or cleaning fluid
blot with paper towels
allow to dry before laundering
if color remains rewash with chlorine bleach if safe for fabric or color-safe bleach
for an entire load of clothes affected by a crayon(s) in the dryer,
wash with hottest water safe for fabric with laundry detergent + 1 cup baking soda

Fruit juice
soak in cold water
wash with bleach safe for the fabric

Perspiration
apply ammonia to fresh stains
or white vinegar to old stains
rinse & launder using the hottest water safe for the fabric

Grass
light grass stains, preteat with stain remover or liquid laundry detergent
launder using hottest water safe for the fabric
heavy grass stains, place stained area facedown on several layers of
paper towels & apply cleaning fluid to the back of the stain
replace paper towels as the stain is absorbed
let dry, rinse then launder using the hottest water safe for the fabric

Alcohol
soak in water or glycerin
rinse in a vinegar & water solution

Coffee
blot with club soda or cold water

Pencil
launder once with a strong detergent and a 2nd time with ammonia
rinse well, repeat as needed

Gum
dissolve with peanut butter or an orange-oil cleaner
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

don't use hot water on stains of unknown origin
hot water can set protein stains in the fabric

blot - dont rub
blotting draws the stain away from the fabric
rubbng will push the stain into the fabric & damages the fiber

Stained fabrics that go through the dryer will be harder to remove
