Default Stocking stuffer ideas

I'm looking for some stocking stuffer ideas for kids. I tend to stuff stocking with the essentials (batteries for the toys, etc) and thought I might try something a little different this year. What do you think make good stocking stuffers for kids?

My favourite stocking stuffers are colouring books and new crayons. I guess it depends on the age of the kids. I also usually add some chocolates and small dollar store books or toys.
If my DS is potty trained by Christmas, I'll probably also put some new underwear in the stocking. I hope to find Buzz Lightyear undies for him.

For older kids, travel size products and samples can be great stocking stuffers. Whenever I go through a department store, I ask if they have any perfume or colgne samples...there are great stocking stuffers for older teenagers.

Walk the shelves of your local $1 shop if you have one. They have ideas for all ages. For mine I have used chapstick, gum, candy, fruit, nuts, a barbie outfit, beaded jewerly or loose beads and the elastic, or wire to string them with-depending on the childs age. My kids always like it if Santa leaves some loose change in there also.

Nuts and a nutcraker, I think the best part is the one on one time with a parent to figure out how to get in them!

I also have a tradition of a toothbrush and a comb, which is really cool for my 1 and 2 year old, but older kids prolly don't like em.

The number one thing to remember is don't fill it just to fill it, you then have to store the stuff!
