Default Do your decorate with Christmas lights?

I'm just curious how many people decorate their houses with Chrismas lights? We put lights on the tree and a string above the fire place, but not outside along the roof of the house. I see some houses that have incredible light displays and I would imagine they must cost a fortune in electricity although I love going to see them.

I would like to put up lights on the house, but it's so high and the pitch of the roof is too steep for us to even attempt stringing lights. We tried the year we moved in but Dh nearly fell off the roof. Not a good plan. I bought a spiral tree after Christmas last year and we may look at geting some animated deer. That would be it.
I do love to admire the nicely decorated homes, though. I'll just let them pay for the power to light it all and admire from afar.

I have outside lights and they do cost a bit to keep on. I usually shut them down before I go to bed which saves some money. But I will try these new lights and if they do save 80% on electricity, then maybe I'll leave them on a bit longer so people can enjoy them.

We bought LED lights last year on the recommendation of our neighbor. We hand them outside and on the tree, but nothing fancy. The did lower our bill from previous years.

He does the whole shebang and his electricity bill used to be a small fortune. It is still high due to all the lights, but he says the bill is a fraction of what it used to be because of the energy savings the LED lights give.

A few years ago we bought a fiber optic Christmas tree and love it. We don't have to put lights on it and looks great with minimal ornaments on it.

We don't have elaborate outdoor Christmas light displays because the cost in time and money is so high, but we do love it when others spend the time and money. Christmas light displays are very beautiful.

We've been lazy since we bought our house a couple of years ago so we just put wreaths on the windows with spotlights for night.

Thanks! It actually does look nice and it's nice not to have to bother with all the lights and the unraveling and planning the extension cords, etc.

My husband is scrooge. Unless I put up lights it will never happen ... he has no holiday spirit.

A better question might be, "Do you ever take your Christmas lights down?"

I think it is ridiculous (and lazy) that some people put up lights and then don't bother to take them down. If you put them up, take them down; and sometime before Valentine's Day please. If you aren't going to take them down, don't put them up.
