Absolutely not, I believe in natural beauty and it'll take dead door before I let someone stick a scalpel in me.

Funny you should ask. I am a FIRM (ROTFL) believer in plastic surgery. I had rhinoplasty performed on my nose ten years ago. I am now in the process of digging myself out of plastic debt so I can afford Breast Augmentation.

It is my firm belief, lol, there's that word again, that if I had invested in the one thing I've always desired, a more proportional body, I wouldn't be in the cc debt I'm in now.

Historically, I'm the type of person who lives in the here and now. "Oh, what I really want, man it costs too much, so in the mean time I'lll buy something I can afford, like a CD or a fancy dinner to occupy me and make me feel better over the thing I really, really want, but can't afford." The problem with that that type of thinking is all those little things add up. I could have already had what I really wanted if I just sought out that one thing in the first place instead of getting caught on the sidelines.

Oh well, live and learn.

i would think long and hard after having gone thru the pain and long recovery of abdominal surgery. I do hate my wrinkles, tho. I feel younger inside.

I had emergency abdominal surgery that went bad due to surgeon error (which he admitted to me after I woke up). The recovery was horrible. I've had two medically necessary surgeries since then that went fine, but I will NEVER go under the knife for anything unnecessary. To me it would be risking my life for nothing. Too many things could go wrong.

I had LASIK. So worth the money. I am not opposed to Botox when i need it in the future.

My opinion is that anyone under the age of 18 should not have any cosmetic surgery unless there is a terrible accident or a birth deformity (like cleft palet). Otherwise, to each their own.

I am from a long line of women with small frame and large mammory glands. Large mammory glands are sort of our family trademark for the women. In a world of women who aren't satisfied; honestly, I love my body and think that it is just awesome. I don't wear much make up or do too many crazy things with my hair. I guess you could say I'm into natural beauty. It goes along with my personality. I think people who wear too much make-up and too much hairspray are trying to hide something.

I really try to avoid any hospital or medical care unless absolutely necessary. And, I realize and accept that my body has and is changing with age and time. I take care of myself the best that i can but if I have a few wrinkles, flab, etc, that is life. If others wish to have things done then I think that is fine and those that want it should go and do what makes them comfortable. But, there are risks and some pain involved as well. To each his own.

I think people spend alot of time and money trying to be something they're not. Not all of us are size 2 with perfect features, etc. Of course we all want to look good. But, I think that we are humans but some of us are just built differently. A beagle isn't built like a chihuahua or a pit bull, etc. A robin is not a sparrow and vice versa. So, why spend so much time and effort trying to be a sparrow? Be a happy robin and enjoy life. Just my 2 cents for the day!

cschin, I think your thinking agrees with mine. I am probably the oldest one on here and I don't plan to do anything to myself. I think I look fine other than I could lose a few pounds. I have used plain old cold cream on my face every morning, and I really have very few wrinkles.

I like to watch the birds. I always imagine one bird sitting there and wishing he could be another bird and how futile that would be! Instead, it is better for them to just be what they are.

This is an interesting thread. I don't think I'd ever have anything done to my face unless it was injured. That being said, I have had plastic surgery when I was 22, fifteen years ago. I had a mammoplasty reduction, they removed 7.5 pounds of breast tissue and that still left me with size C cups. Heck, I wanted B's but it would have made me out of proportion to my hips. The weight of my bust was causing severe back and neck problems that were aggravating my mild scoliosis. Plus, they didn't make supportive large bras back then, not even Lane Bryant, and I couldn't wear any kind of button down blouse without making it gap. It was horrible. Not to mention my chest entered the room about 30 seconds before the rest of me did and guess what kind of unwanted attention I got from it? Mostly it interfered with my quality of life and caused pain.

My mother had reconstructive surgery after breast cancer and my sister had a scar taken off her forehead. I wouldn't advocate plastic surgery for anyone. I think implants would be okay for women who have breasts that are two different sizes to even them up. But I don't think going from a size A to a size D is going to make anyone as happy as they think it will. Back pain for one thing. Of course, I haven't been a size A since 6th grade so maybe it would. Its hard to see it from that side for me as I had so many problems being too large for too long.

I would also be okay with the tummy tuck to get rid of excess skin or the pregnancy apron many women have. But it should always be thought about long and hard and researched and then finding the best doctor you can afford.

Plastic surgery is life-changing. But it won't change who you are.

I had DD40 boobs and they never gave me an ounce of pain as far as weight. I never had a bad back at all. I am now a B-C cup because I had a double mastectomy at 32 years old with breast reconstruction. They used my abdominal tissue to make my new breasts and I didn't have anywhere near enough to make breasts my original size. I am now 4 years out of this surgery and I love my newer perkier boobs and the tummy tuck that came along with it. Had I not had the mastectomies I would have definitely considered having a boob lift and mini tummy tuck. I hated the extra skin on my abdomen from pregnancy and the stretch marks. I LOVE the results of my new body (even though it wasn't done for cosmetic reasons). I can totally understand why someone would want a tummy tuck or any other surgery if it improves their self esteem. No amount of working out will accomplish that (I'm an avid jogger and that loose tummy skin wasn't going anywhere without the surgery, believe me).

I would love to have Lasik. My eyesight is horrible and glasses give me a headache. I have to wear contacts and I think it would be healthier for my eyes.

I need a tummy tuck. From having the twins, my stomach muscles are seperated. I have a lower back ache at al times. I am also overweight and I need to lose the weight off before I have it done.

I would also love to have Lasik. I don't consider that cosmetic surgery. I think having to use contacts all the time is a big pain in the arse, and I'm far too vain to wear glasses, lol.

Seems to be mostly women here so I thought I'd chime in.

I have considered getting hair removal from my back but I'll admit it's 50% cosmetic and 50% comfort (it itches sometimes).

It's hard to justify a cost like that when you are raising a family though.

Scanner, can't you just shave it off? I would never have anything done, I am too scared to even have my ears pierced!

I thought I'd start small and have it waxed at the beginning of the summer.

Make it kind of a joke thing with my staff at my office - my expedition to get my back waxed, being the hairy dude I am, LOL. They'll all laugh. I try not to take myself too seriously.

Seriously though, I'm not covered but it's on my shoulders and lower back. I know it's unattractive but I think it would just feel better too.

I read up on laser treatment last night after this post. Apparently, I'm a good candidate in that I have dark hair (but I tan easily) but apparently, the treatment reduces hair not necessarily removes it all.

I think I'd still take that.

scanner, i was just going to mention laser removal!

woman i used to work with was a beautician and always waxed her legs. after a couple of years, the hair just stopped growing back (i guess the follicles were 'traumatized' so to speak).

while waxing is less expensive than laser, it, um, HURTS!!! especially if you have thick hair. so, if you're serious about it, perhaps going w/ a laser removal the first go-round, and then consider waxing when things start growing back in...

and attractive or not, the fact that it itches would be enough for me to consider it. i can't imagine spending my life with a perpectual back-itch: i think i'd go insane!

Yeah, a beautician did tell me that waxing over and over will cause the hair to at least be thinner whereas shaving just makes it grow thicker, like grass, LOL.

Yeah, the itching thing isn't constant, just certain times. My assistant actually bought me a back scratcher for Christmas one year that you can mount against the corner of a wall because I scratch myself like a bear on the corner throughout the day sometimes. It was kind of a gag gift/joke.

I also make them scratch me sometimes near the shoulder blades for 10 seconds or so. It's in their job description.

They'll be happy to send me for a waxing, LOL.

My uncle was a really hairy dude - short, fat, hairy and bald - nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. At his funteral, his little grandchild got up at the eulogy and told the audience how he made her brush his back hair with a brush.

LOL. We were all crying and laughing at the same time.
