I bought napkins from them for of course $1. and the only thing I found different was the size. They were a bit smaller, but then who cares.

I swear by Dollar Tree's mylar balloons. Their balloons last alot longer than Hallmark's or the party stores and are only a $1 compared to $3. My DH & I use alot of paper plates during the summer so I buy the 32 count paper plates for $1 compared to Sam's Club who had the same plates but a 250 count for $9.36. Doing the math you still get a better deal at the Dollar Tree.
I compare prices of the things I buy at the Dollar Tree to the other stores prices and put the difference into my savings or my vacation fund. It adds up. |

Dollar Tree also had recent back issues of Ladies Home Journal and Family Circle for $1.
Normally this wouldn't be exciting except for the fact that LHJ had a CVS coupon for $3 off $15 purchase. Needless to say, I bought all available copies. ![]() |

I used to be a Walmart regular. However, I am finding that Walmart has been steadily increasing their prices. Since I was hooked, I just shopped there anyway but soon discovered our local dollar stores. So, now the Dollar store is my first stop for anything. I go there because their inventory is constantly changing and I am sometimes surprised to see what comes in. And, it saves me the cost of driving out of town to Walmart which is a good 40 mile round trip so that would be about $6 for a tank of gas.
I tend to by pretty much a little of everything. Things like bandaids, generic medications, makeup, clothes, food, kitchen utensils, you name it. For our 4th of July Picnic, I picked up assorted decorations at $1 a piece. They are plastic and will be tossed. And, I don't like to keep and store that kind of stuff anyway. So, I made a nice little party theme for a low cost. Happy 4th everyone! |

One of the Dollar stores in our area takes coupons. The other one used to but just changed hands and doesn't now. But they hope to take them again soon. When they do take them, I can get free dish soap, laundry soap, toothpaste..same with Walgreens and CVS, but with them its using the rebates.

I think by far that Dollar Tree is a superb store. Their merchandise is so much better than other stores. I have also observed that dollar stores within malls carry very good merchandise as well.

Like Mellie, I love my Family Dollar, tho everything isn't a dollar.
I buy ALL my aspirin, OTC pain releivers, dish soap, laundry soap, paper products, tash bags, Shampoo and so on there. They also always have 2 liter diet cokes for $1. I also sometimes buy their canned goods, snacks and such. I go there first before I go to the grocery store that happens to be right next door. I usually spend a lot less at the grocery store than I had originally planned on. |

I find I"m going more & more to our Dollar Tree & Dollar General. I mostly buy generic food anyway (unless dbling coupon makes brand name less) and they have some fantastic prices.
Another place I've found locally is an Amish Grocery store just a couple of miles away, that sells the pantry staples in bulk. We are also very fortunate to live beside a 'Farmer's Auction' where local farmers & others bring their excess goods. I got hanging flower baskets for $4 each! These were at WM for about $15! In the summer you can purchase all kinds of home-grown produce at fantastic prices - great for me since I don't have the space to raise as big a garden as I'd like. Therefore - I purchase ALL my canning supplies(lids & rings) at Dollar General and my jars at yard sales. |

I buy all my birthday cards at the dollar store. They are only 50 cents each there. My dh and I recycle cards to each other.

I agree that Dollar Stores are great for household items. But I would never buy toys from there. They tend to have ridiculously high levels of lead.
