I can't believe nobody has mentioned the 99 Cent Store. It must be a southern california thing. I agree with everything everyone mentions above. Toilet Paper, Paper Plates, Household Items...

But my best finds ever: An Ethernet Cable & Tabasco Sauce

Oh my gosh, toothbrushes!! They are 5/$1, both small children's ones and adult ones too.
When we went to WalMart and were in the toothpaste aisle, I was floored to see toothbrushes for $5-$7!! From what I've been told by my dentist, the technique and length of brushing counts more than a fancy brush.
I can't imagine spending that much on a toothbrush. We have had major dental problems here in the past, before I discovered the Dollar Tree. Our teeth are in no worse shape with cheaper brushes. I mean, they are $.20!! You could buy 20 of them for $4, a year's supply, versus almost $200 for the WalMart ones! A true savings.
I also buy my brooms there, party supplies for a fraction, Easter things, school supplies, cleaners (Awesome is truly awesome!) and fake flowers for the graveyard.
Their ranch dressing is better than any name brand that we've ever bought. I buy olives there, pasta, and tuna fish 2/$1. It is a bit fishier, but not enough to make me not buy it. Also, chunky-style soup.
My son has gotten computer wires, usbs, and headphones that actually hold up.

Smile Dollar Store Deals

also, some of their gift bags have really nice prints on them and can be cut out and popped into a frame (from the dollar store also, of course!). $2 for home decor[/quote]

I am a Dollar Store Devotee too! My big item there is "puppy pads". My cocker spaniel is going blind and taking her out at night is rapidly becoming a big deal (for her). She spooks at everything, so I decided I'd give paper-training a shot. The results are 99% accurate (lol), and the pads are $4 for 16. The Hatrz brand are 8.99 for 24 and are treated with soda, but I can get more, and change them out more often.

I get all paper products, toiletries (I love the vanilla scented Secret deoderant...so sue me), and I pick up candles there once a month for a treat.

The best buy I ever got there are small red, green and silver kerosene lanterns that they sell there for $1. They are intended for summer yard/deck ornaments, but during last winter's ice storm we were without power for 7 days and those little lanterns, one in every room, kept me from bumping into everything or holding a candle and I could read at night. Priceless!

I'm new here. Nice to meet such friendly folks.

I haven't been to Dollar Tree in a while having a lil w/d symptoms *LOL*

We usually buy brushes, hair accessories, plastic containers, flash cards, some snacks, pic frames, greeting cards, note cards, and some cheap kid toys (the decent looking ones anyways).

Most items sell for $2-4+ in regular stores. And as far as the kids things go, it's not too bad to use as stocking stuffers especially if you know it's something they'll lose interest in or wreck there's no point in paying big $ every time.

story cd's for the boys (they listen to them as they are going to sleep)

off brand ibuprofen and tylenol (the small bottles are great because I can only get that price in a huge bottle and we don't always go through a huge bottle that fast and I don't have to worry about it expiring before we use it up with the smaller bottle)

hand lotion (the cheap stuff soaks in fast and is great to keep in the car to put on at a red light)

stocking stuffers/easter basket stuffers

scrub brushes/dish brushes

loop-a-word books

educational books/schoolwork things (we homeschool)

I love love love my family dollar (does this count? not everything is a dollar) I get all my paper products, diapers, laundry detergent and softener, shampoos and conditioners, toothbrushes, etc. This store also sells clothing that is pretty good quality for the price. I've bought my son's shoes (he's almost 3 so he grows out of them pretty fast) and most of his clothing there. I love this store so much! Its right next to a Big Lots and a grocery store so I'm like bam bam bam..shoppings done! All good to me!

My favorite Dollar Tree buy was one of those giant calculators. It lasted 3 years and got used almost daily. Not bad for a buck.

As far as Dollar General goes I keep my eyes open for their end of season and after holiday clearence. Last week they had socks and underwear 75% off so I was able to get socks and underwear for the whole family plus get the kids socks and underwear for school next year for right around $10 total.
Holiday items eventually go on sale 90% off but if it's something you really want or need it's better to buy at 50%-75% off. So that you have a better selection to choose from.

Ohhhh they don't have any more tostito's dip WAAAHHHH! I guess it serves me for not going for a few months.

But I did find a deal on mouse traps 4 for $1 wich is cheaper than the brand name Victor ones @ Wally world that I think sell for $1.29 for 4. Dh said the spring had a bit more umf to it as well.

Ilove the dollar store. I use it to teach my little one (age 3) about money. He doesn't get much allowance but he can spend a dollar every month or so if he saves and so far he hasn't outgrown the stuff there. He is learning about value also. Some stuff breaks too soon and he notices (of course the loud stuff he buys lasts and lasts and ...)
I buy little stuff for my teenage grandsons like silly string and those balls that spark when clacked together. I have found cool toys there that cost more elsewhere. I have also found junk and things that cost more there like mixes for 88 cents that they sell for a dollar. I buy all my packing tape there now and it works fine. I buy bubble bath there and some shower stuff (I mean party shower) I make bags or baskets of stuff as gifts. I just bought Bible stories for in the car that my DS2 likes and they are the only place that sells a phone case to fit my DH phone for under 10 bucks. Yes it wears out in 6 months but I am still ahead. I like dollar stores. OUr local Family Dollar is closing so I am enjoying some really good sales there as well.

We do buy the disposable sippie cups there that are usually 3x the cost @ Wally world but I wish they came in the 9oz size
We usually also get our hair & tooth brushes there, pg tests, hard cover novels, calculators.

I use Dollar General. There is one 2 towns over (about 17 miles). Its worth my trip to go. They take coupons, and often I get stuff for free. Several weeks ago when I went in I got Sauve shampoo and conditioner. Their everyday price is just 75 cents, and I had 75 cent and 50 cent off coupons. So, I got several bottles for free, and some for 25 cents. We now have shampoo for about 4 months.
They also have good deals on their laundry and dish soap, and school supplies.

I second that!!!

I was just at the Dollar Tree today to pick up some notebooks, and I took a look around as BF was trying on sunglasses (he's picked up a couple pairs over the last few years from the dollar store that have looked great. He just tends to lose them frequently!). It always astounds me how many wonderful deals you can find. I think my only problem is that I cant get past the "it's only a dollar!" thing... because I walk out with 15 or so items in the end. hehe. So I have to go in with a list or a set item, or dont go in at all. haha. But I've bought in the past: composition books, cleaning supplies, greeting cards, toys, giftbags, and various groceries and snacks. I'm a great lover of the dollar store

I recently hosted a baby shower. I purchased all the decorations, disposable table clothes, themed napkins and themed dessert plates from the Dollar Tree and saved a bundle. From past experience, I wasn't too impressed with the sturdiness of the Dollar Tree disposable dinner plates or plastic silverware, so I purchased these elsewhere-- but the rest of the stuff was great
