cheap halloween costume for a girl

I just got asked if I had an extra halloween costume for a friend who just got a foster child earlier today. She got a 6 year old girl. Last year, the $1 store had some left over red felt tree skirts for 50 cents each, which i bought. I dug one of those out of the hall closet, made the hole in the center larger, ran elastic thru it, cut out a poddle from some white felt and wa-la--a poodle skirt. We took some left over ribbon to make a large initial on her white shirt, and with her pony tale, the look will be compete--for under $1 of materials!
