You can get cheap patterns at Wal-Mart in the fabric section. I have even gone in, looked up the pattern number, got the instructions out of the pattern, and see how they are made. If it is easy enough, I won't buy the pattern, but just measure it out at home and cut it.

You might be able to find a free pattern online, too. Do a search and see what you get. About.com has a sewing section with free patterns.
