Default secret santa gifts

ok, miracles do happen from time to time. I'm trying to get my xmas shopping prepared and done early this year and have been making my lists. I always get invited to a few xmas parties that usually requite a "secret santa" gift for under $5. Does anyone have a good suggestion for this?

If it is an adult group, a bottle of wine is always a safe bet. If the secret santa is $10 or less, you can get a very nice quality bottle.

Lottery tickets. Even if they lose, it still is fun playing them and if they win, boy will they be happy!

Believe it or not but my aunt had a x-mas party last year & we played a swaping secret santa and people were going nuts over simply things like soup sets with the mix and cups. my mom did the lottery tickets and people liked to keep swaping to see who finally ended up with them. My aunt did a combo of lottery tickets & a gas card and everyone enjoyed them to. chris

You could buy a $5.00 gift certificate to Blockbuster and then give some pop corn for movie and snack night. I have done this with teacher's gifts in the past.

Also make your own jar gift mixes. There are alot of them at www.budget101.com

At all the secret santa gift exchanges I've been to, homemade goods (cookies, pastries, pies, etc.) have always been popular.

I just came back from one of these this weekend. For the adults, the retro gift toys from their childhood were popular: slinkies, silly puddy, rubic cubes, etc.

My teenagers needed a $5 gift for an exchange at church. They gave a $5 gift cert from Starbucks. Interestingly, all the kids wanted it. I wouldn't think at that age that they were coffee drinkers. But it was a big hit with them.

Another gift that was a big hit was $5 in cash.
