Fill up your gas tank early in the morning and you will get 5% more fuel for the same price.

Not only are thery cheaper but thicker & more durable. Same w/ undies we get the same qty per pkg but theirs again are thicker & last way longer.

I joined free-cycle, for my area. If I really need something but I can't afford it. I go there first and advertise what I'm looking for. If anyone has it, they will give it to you free. Every thing must be free. Last year I gave a Christmas tree to some one that needed it. This year I wanted a treadmill and someone had one that they no longer wanted it and I requested it and got it. It's a great site. Ya'll check it out!

SORRY! But my stupid fingers forgot to give you the web site. Go to freecycle.org when you get there pick out your area. north, south, or southeast, whatever yours is. Then you have to pick your state, as it breaks down you will get to your county or town. And you should see if your area has one. Then you can Join. If not you can start your own group. And you can also join other groups I belong to the four county's that I live near. If ya'll have any more question's just let me know!

Thanks, I will do that. I always have stuff to give away. Last year I had a dishwasher with just a minor leak, but my husband always makes me buy new when appliances have a problem.

I like freezing things in ice cube trays. For exaample, if I have extra tomato sauce, or plum puree from canning, I freeze it in ice cube trays, then put the cubes in ziplocs. It doesn't take up as much space as a tub. I'm able to use a little at a time. I may not need a fullquart of plums, but i can defrost one or two for some yogurt. Also, you can have perfect sizing; I make extra oatmeal and freeze cubes of it-three cubes for a light breakfast, or five for more.

Things that will work: Almost too old sour cream (add a cube or two to soup), almost too old apple sauce (use as fat substitute, or for cereal, yogurt, etc.), any fruit mashed or pureed, any hot cereal to prepare for the week, spaghetti sauce (a cube or two is perfect for homehade pizza), kinda mushy blackberries that can't be individaully frozen on a cookie tray, spinash or any mushy vegetable-add to soups, by itself, etc.

I don't have a ton of bags at any given time, it's just a handy way to handle extras.

It's not an unknown tip, but it may be lesser known to those who don't cook much, like me.

I also take things like bananas puree them put them in ice cubes and save them for baby food, instead of letting the bananas spoil.

You can also take the syrup from the canned fruit, put them in ice cube trays and add them to Kool-aid or apple juice.

Saved the peeling from my breakfast orange............ When I'm done with my tea & reading here........I'll cut the peelings into little pieces, technically about 3/8" X 3/8". Stick a whole clove in each and leave out to dry. Store in airtight container & use to flavor teas. Yummy!

Make great gifts for the tea drinkers on your gift giving list too.

We cancelled all our magazine subscriptions and surf online for house and garden tips, news, computing how to's and entertaining ideas. We also go to Barnes and Noble's online classes, which cover a variety of subjects and cost nothing. They will always recommend a book, but very often you can get it used or do without it.

I have to say that my best tip is to get into mystery shopping. I've been doing this for about two years, and I love it. I've never paid to shop, I make decent money to eat out, visit retail outlets and review hotels. I know this sounds like spam, but there are legitimate ways to add this type of income to your household. I have no monetary interest in turning people on to this (actually, it's dumb; they become competitors......)

WE took a two night landscaping course when we built our house and did it ourselves. It looks great and we saved a lot of money.

I got a deep freezer that way. Cost me $8 a month to run it. But I save 70 a month in food.

I agree, but then I run Bergen NJ, so I'm not objective at all! I received a Soloflex machine and a bread machine this year, and gave away dishes, clothing, textbooks, and bowling balls, lol...it's a great group, and many of my members have become friends too. Someone even came to my yard to dig out bamboo and Ivy; she got plants, I got landscaping!
