No re-gifting here. My presents were thoughtfully chosen and gratefully accepted.

I had to regift one item. My friend gave me a glitter makeup set that was much better for a preteen. I gave it to my 12 year old stepcousin

I got a potpouri gift that I don't know about. I might keep the container for Christmas goodies next year, but the big box of potpouri will probably have to go. Hubby is allergic to most of them. Funny this is, the gift came from his parents. I feel bad about that, but I guess we never have told them that he can't have stuff like that in the house.

I don't understant what is all the big deal with giving gifts to adults. Why go through all that stress of hoping to find the right gift for that someone, ( right one, big enough, expensive enough, etc. ) and mostly at the end it turns out it's something the recipient doesn't need or want.
I love buying gifts for adults. I don't have any kids in my life-on purpose. I try to give all year, just little thinking of you things, but with my Challenge this year I had to save them for Christmas. I had a lot of big hits, and I gave at least five times more than I got, and I am totally fine with that.

I am NOT interested in the obligatory, over priced gift giving, and I am a-okay with people choosing to go "no gift." (And hopefully they can accept my gift, knowing that it its likely very low cost!)

I guess I'm trying to say that there may be a lot of folks doing a lot of unwelcome adult gift buying, and they should feel free to stop, but some of us love the excuse to wrap a treat for a buddy.

Too funny! My mother in law bought my 4 year old son a bingo set for Christmas. There are small pages....a ton of little "spots" to cover the numbers....and a bunch of bingo balls in a tumbler cage. Yeah....like I REALLY want to be picking that stuff up. It would be all over the place. Not to mention the fact that he isn't interested in sitting still for more than a few minutes. She really has bad taste in gifts sometimes. She also bought him a big container of wooden blocks....think generic Jenga. The dog has already chewed some of them....and the rest are scattered in the bottom of the toybox. Lol!

So nice to see at least one person out there okay with reducing. My DH's family is big, 3 grown boys with grown kids having kids. Most of them 'say' let's reduce, but chicken out every year.

It just makes me think we're killing Mother Earth

i too love giving gifts!!! i only had 1 child to buy for this year (perhaps two since my step-nephew is now in town and i am unprepared), but other than that, no kids. i like finding things that i think will make my family and friends happy, and finding a bargain makes it even better! and yes, i'll tell you it was a bargain, as most of my family & friends are of the frugal sort... at any rate, if i see something and it makes me think of you, that's what you'll get for a gift (within reason).

most appreciated gifts i gave this year: a massaging foot bath (Christmas) and vibrating lumbar support pillow (birthday) to the same pregnant friend who also has a 4 yr old and works in a day care.... i figured those would be things i would want if i were 'about to pop', and the total cost was right around $20... woohoo! if she re-gifts them when she's no longer pregnant, i'm fine with that too. hopefully they'll go to someone who'll appreciate and use them!

Pretty Cheap Jewelry, if you must gift, can you go with a small food item yearly and perhaps your in-laws will get the hint over time??

I will be regifting a Christmas candle and holder and an ornament. They'll make nice teacher gifts next year!

Yes Lux, This year it was (nice handmade) soap tins (see my blog for the great tin instructions I made).

Maybe next year it will be a candle or food tin. But it will be a dry soup or bread or rice mix as I am opposed to sugary items (recipes also found in my blog).

Thx,
