Thumbs up Do you do the store rebates?

Like walgreens, Riteaid, Eckards, or CVS? If so did you know you could use coupons to make some money on them?

Yes, I do rebates mainly at Riteaid. If you are interested in ladies who truly know how to squeeze every penny out of the rebate/coupon/catalina game there is a huge forum at families .com broken down by store/rebate/coupon....I am not quite as gung-ho as they are but they are inspirational

I do use coupons. I do not typically utilize store rebates.

The last coupon/rebate deal I did was Degree for men. I got two, using two $1 off coupons for the purchase, and then sending in a buy-one-get-one free product rebate. That was an excellent arrangement. Still, as I said, I do not typically pursue rebate deals.

I don't do any rebates. I hate mailing in the info and it takes weeks and weeks to see the rebate if it even comes. So, I do not buy products on sale if it is due to a rebate. I want the best price at point of puchase not weeks later.

cschin4 I agree. This isn't a pharmacy example but I bought TaxCut last year instead of TurboTax because TaxCut had the State tax program included in the sticker price, whereas I had to mail in a rebate to get it for TurboTax.

Agreed! Rebates are bad for my blood pressure.

I use both coupons & rebates. I will say that I will not buy something just because it's on sale or has a coupon. I do prefer some store items that are better. Rebates need to be worth my time and $$$. I have done very well on these.

My husband really wanted a paper shredder for the office and I was on staples.com and found a $20 rebate for a 19.99 shredder.

It depends on who is offering the rebate...some companies are very good about giving the rebates while others often send you a note saying you didn't qualify. Lowe's and Staples are good about doing rebates in my experience.

Personally, I wish they would just give you the price off and not have to send in the rebate, but I guess they are taking the risk that a lot won't send it for the rebate and then they won't have to pay.

I do both. but I only do rebates if they are for something I actually want then I will send it in. but as said above, sometimes they come and sometimes they don't. very aggravating! and hard to remember by the time it is time for them to come in.

I usually don't but I am trying rite aid this month It seems too easy and am hoping it is. You go on line and punch in numbers on the receipt and they send you the rebate no mailing anything. Sounds too good. Every other time it seems that they find a reason to refuse you the rebate and you have to go through hoops to get your money.

I've done Rite Aid for two months now - super easy and I haven't had any problems getting the check.
Walgreens and Eckerds have also paid - but there you have the hassle of mailing it in. I love Staples easy rebates online.

I really used the Rite Aid rebate system this month, as I was often able to combine coupons, rebates and sales. I was able to give a Memorex Shower Radio/cd player that cost me only tax, and a ministereo system, also Memorex for $10 + tax. The sound quality is prolly not great, but it was for someone whose kids moved out and took all music with them. On Christmas Eve I was able to combine the Super Holiday booklet and sales to purchase 4 free bags of jerky, and 4 free cans of Planters peanuts. I also bought 4 Kellogg's miniwheat cereals for $.50 each after coupon, and submitted all my receipts, so should get a $5 rebate on the cereal.

I totally agree! I have done it with Eckerds before they went out of business....but I hated waiting for the savings.

Re: Do you do the store rebates?

Yes, yes and yes.
before I buy anything , be it a loaf of bread or a big screen TV I ask myself first: Do I have a coupon for it and/or this item has rebate on it?

I especially love rebate offers that are on normal everyday products like, meat, bread, cooking oil etc items that I purchase anyways regardless if there was a rebate on it or not. Normally, these kind of rebates are put out by Beer/Wine companies and beauty of it is that many offers don't require you buy the beer. These rebates are offered as "complments of Budwieser, Miller, Coors ect ect. To give you an idea, below are some of the reabtes I am working on right now:

-Save up to $10 by mail on Holiday Merchandise (Lights, Ornaments and Tree Decorations) $12 min. purchase. Compliments of Miller Lite and Miller Genuine Draft. No beer purchase is required. Purchases must occur between 11-1-06 and 1-2-07. Send this certificate, Dated cash register receipt with holiday merchandise price circled. Partincpating states are ......

-Save $10 on any GIFT CARD ($20 min. gift card amt) Compliments of Miller, you'll recive a $10 Check)dated between 11/1/07 - 1/2/07 postmarked 1/16/07. No beer purchase is required. Partincpating states are ......

-Coors up to $10 back: Purchase any combination of the following items ( any brand):
Pretzels, chips, nuts, cheese, crackers, pizza, meat, shrimp (fresh or frozen), Minimun purchase of $20 is required. No beer purchase is requiredGood in these states:
-----

-$20 rebate on the purchase Filet Mignon. Purchase of Dancing Bull ( wine) NOT required. Minimum purchase of $20.01. CONSUMER: To receive your $20.00 rebate on filet mignon, mail this completed form, along with the original UPC code from the filet mignon label and the original cash register receipt imprinted with the store name and the purchase price circled as proof of purchase. Sales receipt must be dated between 8/1/06 and 1/31/07. Valid to residents of legal drinking age in ...

It takes less then 5 minutes to fill your name, address on the form, cut the UPC from the package, staple the recipt , stick a stamp and drop it in the mail. I find the froms either in the grocery stores themselves or I trade for them via refuding boards. Everyday when I open my mail box I am eager to see what rebate check I got today.

I love this hobby

I trade for a lot of them or if I am lucky I find them in grocery stores locally. There are a bunch of good trading sites, registration is free.
I am not usre if we can post the name of other boards here but in case it's allowed, here is the url of my favourite www.hotcouponworld.com
(Mods if it's not allowed, please delate) AT HCW there is a ton of info on how to decresse your grocery budget by using coupons and rebates.

If your thoughts are: Big deal, like I am going to save tons by using a .50 measly coupon...trust me you will never scorn a cpn again once you get the hang of real coupon-ing and rebates.

2007 is coming, why not make it a year where you amaze yourself by how much you can save on groceries and other items by being a smart shopper.
