I got pick on by my aunt for being cheap... Like I wouldn't pay anything for them. That's not always the case... But she said I'm a rich person. =P My good friend was a little mad at me when I didn't want to buy a whole meal for 7$ and I wanted to share with someone to cut the cost. Ah well.. I was trying to get the best of my money and I can't eat it all.

I am always picked on by my siblings. They said money is made to be spent. I always try to save gas and buy cheap food. They like to goto expensive restaurants.

Somehow this doesn't make sense...you get picked on when you can't eat everything and don't want to waste food or money. Perhaps you should turn the tables and pick on these folks for being wasteful! You are being frugal and resourceful.

When i first saw this question, i thought it in general, that is, in life, have you ever been picked on?

The answer, most definitely yes! As a child, i was very shy but very smart, and a lot of other kids didn't like that combination.

Fortunately, no one has ever criticized my frugal ways, that i can think of, tho i tend to shop alone so must might not be aware of my habits.

I was picked on as a child. Unfortunatly growing up on the low end of low income. I had been picked on for wearing k-mart clothes & owning 6 pairs of the same exact jeans & of course being told it was the same pair worn everyday, instead of 6 pairs that were identical. & of course having a mom who dumpster dove was a big hit with the kids who's parents let them get whatever they want.

Though nowdays it's dh that picks on me cause he tells me I'm being too cheap. But he doesnt' want to see the budget & he doesn't want to hear how low on funds we are ect. He tells me I need to live a little, if it's not my b-day or Christmas forget it.

Perhaps I've been teased, but I wear my frugality so unapologetically that it's hard for me to see teasing as an insult. If someone calls me frugal, it's a compliment. If they say I'm cheap, they are either rude jerks or they don't know that frugality is being wise with money (not stealing sugar packets and using one square of TP).

If someone indicates that I (or frugal folk) don't fully enjoy life or are selfish, I matter-of-factly and gently correct them.

If someone says "Wow, you really don't spend much" or"you pinch every penny, don't you" or "you really wash ziplocs?" or "you actually buy used clothes?" my response is essentially, "Yup! Neat, huh?"
