Default Re: Do you pay for water

When we lived in CA, and in the city here, we were on city water, paid a fortune for it, and used Brita or bottled from work (part of our employment agreement). Now we're on well water, we have a purifier on the kitchen tap and frig, and a softener for the whole system. We just turn off the softener for gardening, etc., and only drink the filtered water. I do pick up the sports bottles of water when they are free (store promos give out cases, etc.) and reuse the bottles.

i pay for water, mine is county water, there is also city water, which has that weird taste to me, same as the water in sarnia visiting family. i think its the additives to kill the germs myself. they told me if you put some in the fridge for a few days the taste is gone. i bought a coke up there and it was nasty! nothing like what im used to here, but im sure thats the same for them, to me it tasted like watered down pepsi, i bet they would gag on our coke.lol why not buy a new and cheap coffee machine, use a filter and put it thru there and then put in a bottle and put in fridge, i think if its not ever used for coffee, then that should work and prolly the cheapest way. you can get like 250 filters at the dollar store. i too have it on my fridge, so im lucky that way.

We have a pur water filter installed on our faucet because the plumbing in our apartment is from the 1920's, and who knows what's in those pipes. The water tastes a lot better.

In Chicago, landlords are responsible for paying the water bill.

Brita system water jug - I buy the filters maybe once a year (there are three) and that costs around $13.00 So it's NOT too bad... I know of people that ONLY drink out of water bottles they buy (Evian, etc..)

I drink club soda and seltzer. Some of the seltzer I make with cartridges and tap water, cartridges bought super bulk, otherwise I buy the cheap generic/store brand by the case. I know it costs money (though it is less than bottled "flat" water) but I really somehow dig the carbonation, and when I quit drinking, I told myself I'd let myself drink anything I wanted. I like the club soda and seltzer because it's calorie free and doesn't taste like fake sweetener.

I don't know why I loves the bubbles.

A side note: I've heard that for kids, beware if you are not giving tapwater because in many communities it's flouridated and therefore good for teeth. A lot (all?) bottled water doesn't have flouride.
