Sorry, I am not computer literate! I really doubt I could get what I paid for them 30 years ago.

I seem to always be in a state of sticker shock, so I'm thinking some frugal thinking is built in. I can't stop getting vending machine soda and fancy coffee because I never started. I can't give up hair coloring and manicures because I've never done either. Part of why I wash ziplocks is because I'm always surprised at how darn much they cost. I prefer not using items or using fewer items that working to get more money to buy items.
If I had unlimited money and retirement was covered, I'd would travel and eat out all the time. Those are my weak spots. |

Kealina, those had to be fun to stitch! So much color!
Yes, I professionally frame. The ones I have just "stuck in a frame" don't come out well. They're wrinkled and such. I love the look of double matting and all that. They come out to be true works of art. I'm sorry too, for getting so OT! I'll stop now. ![]() |

well, I have never bought soda from a machine or fancy coffee either. I won't give up my hair coloring, but at least I do it myself. No manicures either. I have cooked for so many years, I really enjoy letting someone else cook and clean up!

I am frugal by nature...98 per cent of the time...the other 2 per cent goes hog wild at times!
But no faker nails, no cappaciones (I would never drink something that I can't even spell!), etc. Do drink basic JavaJoe though as long as its loaded with sugar and cream! Music I can do without most days but The Hubster is a big fan but doesn't spend too much money on it. |

Kealina, those two look awesome! Just curious, but what makes them sentimenal to you?
Ima, if you want, you can try finding someone to help you sell it. There are even companies out there that will do all the leg work for you for a percentage of the profit. I don't know how much they can fetch though. |

As for not being computer literate, sorry but I find that to be a cop-out. I don't know you or your circumstances, but you are obviously able to get online, visit this board and probably at least manage sending and reading e-mails. The only other significant skill you would need to sell on ebay would be the ability to take and post digital photos, and that isn't tough to learn. You can get an inexpensive digital camera for well under $100 that would be more than adequate for ebay work. If you post the names of a few of your better pieces, I'll do an ebay search and tell you what they might bring if you were to sell them. |

as for sentimental, it goes back to the first months we were dating and stretches into the present... we were browsing in a craft store and saw a completed The Mighty Samurai cross stitch displayed on the wall and were simply awed by it... there was something about him that touched us... later i went back to the store without him to buy that kit... $35 was quite a bit of money to me back then... imagine my surprise arriving there to find that my target was 50% off thanks to a clearance sale...I've found that Dimensions Gold Collection Kits are rarely on sale and these* were only on sale as that store was eliminating it's cross stitch section*... giddy with my good luck i decided i could buy another... after looking at the remaining selection i decided to buy "Elegance of the Orient" the Geisha cross stitch... for the next year i worked on it during times when we weren't together...i even took it to school with me and worked on it during bus rides.... i finished it by our first anniversary and it was kind of my gift to "us"... then i started on the Geisha... she was much more difficult and school got busy so progress was much slower (took me almost 4 years)... i finally finished her last year and we got them both framed early this year before our wedding, where we displayed them for our family and friends... i guess to me, the pair represents us or maybe our relationship or some facet of it... there is just something about them... there is even some irony in it... i'm going to sound like a dork admitting this but i was about halfway into working on the geisha when i realized they are a matched pair... i knew they were from the same designer but it never dawned on me until one day i realized that they had so many parallels... he's got his peacock and tree and she's got her dove and cherry blossom tree... if you hang them together they actually face each other with the trees framing them... i couldn't believe it... then it really seemed like karma, fate, etc... so yeah i almost felt like i was meant to buy them both and to complete the pair for our home... ![]() |
