I just want to pipe in that at most stores where I've seen 10 for 10 sales, you don't need to buy 10 to get the sale. This was true at Kroger and at Stop and Shop, at least. It's just a gimmick to make you buy more, but check to see if it says "must buy 10." If it doesn't, then you can get as few as you want for $1 each.

Meijer had these sales where, if you bought 10, you could get the 11th free, but if you bought fewer than 10, you could still get them for $1 each.

I do sometimes watch out for these sales. I like getting Progresso soups at the sale price because they are normally over $2.00 a piece. At the two stores that I shop at Stop & Shop/Shaws you can mix and match the 10 items for $10

I agree alot of the items are already about a dollar normally so you really aren't saving anything or can find cheaper else where like @ wal-mart or Aldi's.

Plus I do think that they do 10 for 10 to also get people who don't realize you don't have to buy 10 @ a time to buy 10 of something.

Like the other week frozen pizza was on sale @ 5 for $10. I only bought 4 & my mom who was with me asked why. 1. you don't have to buy 5 @ a time to get the sale price & 2. we make 2 pizza's at a time so the "5th" one would just sit hogg'n space in my freezer.

I agree with the rest of you. 10 for 10 is an ok deal if the idem in the sale is above that on a normal basics. Also you have to consider if you will enjoy the idem and use is as a normal pantry stock. I found frito lay corn chip 1.00 each basically 10 for 10. We never buy chips because normally they are way over our budget. I bought 5 bags because My son just loves chili chesse frito pies. I understood that nmaking this would be a bit costly but it was a nice change from noodle mess, rice mess, etc! You just have to watch what is on sale and what the normal price is for that idem. Don't get caught up in the got to have ten then let it waste. Pre-plan to use it as something and make hast and get a few!

If you combine 10/$10 with coupons most items come out free. In the past 2 weeks I have gotten toothpaste, tooth brushes, waffles, gravy, butter, pizza rolls, listerine pocket packs, tylonol, shampoo ect.. for free.
If you match coupons with the 10/$10 you can make out like a bandit.

I agree.

This is a tactic of the huge multinational food corporations, having the local grocery stores advertise those ludicrous TEN for $10!!!!!!! "sales."

Oftentimes around here, the canned Hunts' spaghetti sauce is listed -- but there are plenty of times when the same store sells these cans for eighty-nine cents. So what's the big deal about buying it for a buck?

Also, I've never seen a coupon for Hunts Spaghetti Sauce ever since it became a FAKE "loss leader."

You know?

I do glance at the items available just in case it's a family FAV I should stock up on, but usually I can get a much better deal on a different brand.

I think the whole TEN-FOR-TEN is a marketing ploy, I've never seen any serious deals. The big food manufacturers seem to really think all the consumers are robotic dumbos who can't see through the obvious sham they present as a "d*e*a*l."
