I'm sure you can find some good deals at BigLots But you should never pay for BBQ sauce. That is an item you can get free matching coupons with sales elsewhere.

Hence my aiming this message at non-couponers. I know a scientist who earns $45/hr. I told him to use coupons and he said, "You Spend three hours/wk on that. If i spend that much time on clipping coupons and matching sales, i will lose $90 dollars. Point me to a store that has 70% savings on most items, and i will gladly go and take you out to lunch once a month!!!" I pointed him to biglots.
PS: Like you stated, I myself have NEVER bought barbecue sauce there because I am a COUPONER.

I have found several organic/natural brands of cereal at Big Lots recently, which was a pleasant surprise.

Same here Diva: found Kashi, Post, MaltOMeal. Great savings on Sunblock. Walgreens sometimes has MIR for Bananaboat.

I have purchased a few things at BigLots at great buys...mainly school supplies, like cute erasers and things my sister uses in her classroom.

Of late, ours has gone downhill, and mainly sells furniture and odd home items. I haven't been since my sister hasn't come out this summer.

You make an excellent point, though, A-, you can purchase great things at the expensives stores for free, if you are a savvy shopper. The quality of the store, so to speak, doesn't determine the price you need to pay for items.

Yes Flash , DivaJen, Jodi.. the system allows us to use strategies. If we are not taking advantage of this system and have been paying $1.98 for cherries and buying items from Kraft, we are wasting $2.00 Kraft had a coupon for $1.00 off produce WYB 2 particicpating Kraft items.. buy 4 on sale for $0.69 and you get free cherries.
In addition, i removed the labels and mailed them to Kraft. The Rep that i contacted said that she will do something about my buy: refund, coupon..I told her to get creative!!
all beacuse you opened the gates to it via $330 worth Groceries for $27.00 in your www.grocerycouponguide.com.
I now have atip for the nerds (like me) out there. Lets say you have afavorite journal and you cant afford it. You no longer get subscription via work. Call them and request back issues. I got 7 issues of a certain scientific Journal.

I stop in at Big Lots once or twice a month just for Kashi cereal. I don't find it on sale often in the supermarket, nor do I find a lot of coupons, but I can get it nearly half price at Big Lots. I'll buy 4 or 5 boxes at a time.
I also find cheap instant oatmeal and fruit snacks for my boys - a good buy if I don't have coupons handy to use elsewhere.

One caution about buying food at Big Lots: It's good to check the expiration/sell-by dates so you can schedule use. They are an outlet for remaindered, surplus and obsolete stock.

I agree. I generally buy after checking for the EXP dates.
My favorite buys:
Coffee = $1.50
Green Tea 100 bag pack = $2.00

We don't have a Big Lots in my town, but I try to stop in if I see one when traveling.

My best buy was Classico pasta sauce. I bought every jar they had. I don't do coupons generally because they are not readily available here on the North Coast of California. Plus I make a highly wage and find it easier to just shop for good prices.

I am not against coupons, but for me they are not an easy thing to use. Plus my eyes are so bad I can barely read the expiration date! Which means I have to find my reading glasses....

I live in N Ca too, but I usually find tons of coupons. I don't even get sunday paper. There are tons of coupons on the boxes of goods, found in stores, online...

I like Big Lots, but most of their stuff breaks fast.

Ok, don't say EWWWW, but I eat dry and canned goods after the expiration date. Cereal, I have found to not be a problem (so long as your not going a year after the date...). We have a few dirt cheap stores around here that sell things after the exp. date (dry goods) or within a day or two of the date (dairy). If you can use it right away, it's a great deal. Of course, I can understand why others may disagree

I went there yesterday. There were those coupons for 20% off by the register, so I took the coupon, didn't buy anything, I will go back tonight. My Ds wanted a toy while we were there, I promiced I buy him 2 if he waits for tonight. I hope, none of you are in my area, and the stuff I wanted to buy is still there.

Hmm.. Sounds good. I rearranged the room all by myself while Dh wtched golf on TV. I took out my frustration on the carpet by cleaning it and spraying antibacterial on it. If only the carpet could speak...
I plan on getting the antibacterial from Biglots, thanks to flash. I am starting a Send Flash a Gift jar: I dont have to, but i like what she does.): for every dollar she saves me, i either get her free gardening stuff or deposit 5 cents in a jar. Up untill now the total is $5.00!!!!
Of course some seeds are waiting for her.. the money will go towards all the stamps she uses for welcome packets.
Why is the onus on her to spend money on postage for my welcome packet , which was big and fat? It all adds up.
Hope we buy a lot in BL today.

did anybody go to BigLots on sunday to shop with the 20% off coupon?

I did.
I got tons of stuff. Pasta, juice, tp, coffe, veg oil, 1bottle of laundry softener, some toys for kids. I had to use 2 carts. Luckely, my Dh was with me, so he helped. I spent $62. But now I have enough pasta, coffe and tp for another 4-5 months.

I told H( no D.. u'll see why) that I wanted to buy a b'day gift for a 1yr old girl. She is the daughter of family friends and we wanted to get her a good toy. H said: what if we are not invited. I said: we will return it/exchange it for packing supplies.
We did not buy anything for her after all..

I definitely stockpile at Big Lots when I spot a bargain! They had canned green chilis for 33 cents, I probably bought $5. I once spotted seasame oil and chili oil for $1.25, I have a least 6 bottles of sesame oil. I always buy the snacks for my husband's care packages there.

I always keep a lookout for cleaning supplies and gifts there.

They usually have the best deal on blank CDs, 50 under $10.

I bought most of my fans there for half the price of Amazon, it was nice being able to read the reviews first.

Since I save money there, I treat myself to beauty items and scrapbook supplies. LOL
